Christmas Tags with some Zen and Punch

Hi Everyone, Danie here with you today.

As you are aware we are teaming up with Just For Fun Rubber Stamps this month, so today I am sharing some really quick and punchy Christmas Tags using a selection of their StampTangle Stamp Designs (non Christmas, Zentangle Inspired).

My first tag has a spray ink and gesso stenciled background with some Stamptangle Stamped and Punched Ornaments.  The ornaments were created by stamping of the StampTangle Border No 3 Stamp with Red Ink repeatedly across a piece of cardstock which I then punched my ornament shape from.  I was careful to ensure my edges of each stamped border met, and you can see where they did by the thicker line dividing my ornament in half.  A stamped Christmas Sentiment finished this off with some Green Seam Binding for my tie.

My second tag uses a Gelato and Gesso Background.  White Gesso was applied through the Cubist Stencil.  I had prepped this tag months ago with another project in mind.  At the time I had also stamped it with a music stamp.  Today using black ink I used the Square Stamp Design from the StampTangle Cube Set of four Stamps.  I stamped the square numerous times on white cardstock and then taking a Square Punch punched out squares with I randomly placed onto my background on different angles.  I added a stamped Christmas Sentiment and a small bird recycled from a Christmas Card I received last year.  Some fiber and ribbon were teamed together for the tie.

I hope you have enjoyed my projects over the past few years I have shared as part of the AP Team, I am sad to say that it's my last post here as a Design Team Member for Altered Pages.  I want to thank Jean and all the team along with our readers too who have shared this journey with me.  I hope that each and everyone of you have a Very Merry Christmas, Safe and Happy Holidays and Prosperous New Year.

I am not wanting to end on a melancholy note but in recent days I have been saddened by so many of the horrible events taking place globally and being shown on the news that I have kind of lost my Christmas Spirit.  There are many more tragedies that we don't hear about and other circumstances that mean not everyone will be having a Festive end to 2014.

So to finish today, with this my parting post I want to ask a favor.  I want to ask you all to spare a thought for those out there who for one reason or another unable to spend time with their families, are having a tough time dealing with life and who won't be celebrating or having a Merry Christmas this year. Perhaps there is some way you can help through a Random Act of Kindness and make a person's day a little brighter this Christmas,  ....... one thing  I know is that it will make not only the person you showed kindness toward feel good but you'll feel good too.

Thanks again for sharing the journey!

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
