A Holiday Wish

Hi everyone! Are you ready for Christmas? Me? No! Every year I say I'm going to be ahead of the game so I can enjoy the season but you know how it goes it just gets crazy busy and before you know it Christmas is here. Sigh…
Well, I want to share two quick projects I created using this month's cosponsor's Just For Fun Rubber Stamps. Lets get started.

I started with a Christmas card envelope that I messed up. Instead of throwing it away I decided I wanted to use it as a pocket for a journal…the flap is actually on the end of the envelope which will make it easy to put memorabilia in it.

I stamped The Holiday Wish image onto a piece of cardstock from the Joyeux Noel Paper Collection. Also from the same collection I cut various sizes of cardstock for the front of the envelope. The piece of cardstock that has writing on it is actually from packaging that had charms on it. I thought it would add the perfect touch to the envelope.

I inked all edges of the cardstock before adhering to the envelope and splattered a little ink to give it an aged look. I finished off with buttons, sequins and Dew Drops.

Next little project is a gift card holder using a mini paperbag which I have a diecut for but you can use a store bought one too.

I stamped the A  Christmas Note sentiment onto a piece of white cardstock, inked the edges, added scraps of the same Joyeux Noel Paper Collection which I then adhered all pieces to the bag.

I finished off with tying a piece of Twine to the bag. It is a very quick project to knock out and you could have several made up in an hour.

If you have any questions about these projects let me know. Also be sure to stop by the Altered Pages blog to see what each designer has created.

  1. Cute projects - quick question - it looks like you crumpled the paper on one of the layers - I like the look, is that what you did?

  3. Awww, that is so cool! The card is beautiful but that is a super idea for the gc! I may have to do that since it seems that everyone I have to buy gifts for has requested GC's this year.

    Thanks Tonya!

  5. Love the pocket card, and what a fabulous use of a messed up envelope! I can't throw perfectly good things out, like that envy, just because I made a simple mistake. Gonna borrow your idea for my next mess-up!

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
