Thanksgiving Canvas

Hello again friends and Happy Friday!

Stephanie here and as you may know Altered Pages is teaming up with Craft Attitude all this month. I can honestly say the Craft Attitude printable film is so fun to work with.  You will see here that using Craft Attitude, a 8x10 canvas board as well as beautiful collage images I create a Thanksgiving themed project that I think would make the sweetest hostess gift.

I started by preparing the canvas with gesso.

I then added a mottled layer of beautiful Art Anthology Acrylics.

(sorry this is somewhat blurry, you get the idea, yummy gold and burgundy colors as a base)
Next, I trimmed to size a piece of burlap and adhered it to my canvas with a few dabs of glue.  Then, came time to add my main image using the Be Thankfully Calm collage sheet from Altered Pages.  This was printed on the Craft Attitude film. Because my main image was text it was very important to first reverse the image prior to printing.  Otherwise, my focal point would be backwards after adhering the appropriate side down. This is done in the tools section of your computer.  I then simply added the image to the burlap with my trusty glue stick!  I thought a a bit of vintage lace would create a pretty and soft border accent.

I finished the project off by adding more collage images using the Fruits and Veggies collage sheet, more lace and some gold and beaded embellishments from my craft stash.  The grapes were printed on regular white card stock, but the leaves in the top right and bottom left corners were combined images on the Be Thankfully Calm collage sheet, so they were done on the Craft Attitude film.

Pretty grapes and fall leaves...I love all the colors all coming together.  You can see in the close-up above the magic of Craft Attitude.  The burlap shows through the image and adds the coolest transparent effect.

Well, there you have a pretty little Thanksgiving project.
I hope you enjoyed it.

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
