Spooky Tag

Hi everyone! It's me, Tonya and I'm here to share a tag I created for Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween.

Also Art Anthology is this month's partner with Altered Pages which I am pretty excited about.

31 Days of Halloween - DAY 2
I want to share my tag I created. I started off with a #10 tag for my base, adhered with a gel medium some of the orange cardstock that was in my Mailbox Muse kit, let dry and then added a wash of orange, brown and black acrylic paint. I used a blow dryer to speed up the drying process.

I fussy cut one of the  Creepy People out along with a set of bug wings and adhered to the tag along with a black diecut and leftover scraps (which one piece I cut to make a hat) from the Mailbox Muse kit. I outlined the creepy person with a sharpie and added Stickles to the wings. Also added a couple of vintage text page strips that I had leftover from another project.

Next I added black paint around the edges and "drops" on the tag. Then I dipped the outer edge of a empty toilet paper roll in the black paint and added random circles and the white circles I dipped a small bottle lid in my ink pad. Once dry I inked up my +++ roller stamp that was also in my Mailbox Muse kit and rolled in randomly across the tag. I stamped Spooky on bottom and 31 on the top corner of the tag.

I used a circle stencil with Art Anthology sorbet paint which kinda got a little smudged but that's ok I added some mini plastic hexagon shapes for a cool effect. What paint was still on the stencil I flipped over and laid it in different spots for a bit of texture and color. Lastly I added sequins, dew drops and fiber to the tag.
Be sure to hop along everyday with Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween blog hop and check out Altered Pages blog for lots of inspiration! If you have any questions about my tag and how I created it please let me know.

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
