They're Baaaaaaack

Hi and Happy Friday!

The Altered Pages Team is continuing our partnership this month with PanPastel.  I'm sure you have seen some of the amazing creations using PanPastels and hope we have inspired you to have fun with them as well.  Be sure to visit Alteredpages.com for all your crafting needs.

Today I have for you a large Halloween tag.  For those of you that have seen some of my previous posts using the creepy baby doll head collages, they're baaaaaack.  You can see some of them here and here.  I know some folks like 'em and some not so much.  I think it's perfect for some Halloween fun.

I started with a large white tag, inked the edges with black and then gave the background a modeled effect with my PanPastels Red Iron Oxide and Diarylide Yellow.  I then used my Clear VersaMark with a couple spooky stamps from my stash.  After stamping I colorized the images with the Red Iron Oxide and a "Sofft Tool" blender.  I LOVE this effect.  You can make it as light or heavy as you want.

I added the word BOO from my stash.  The spider was actually cut using my Silhouette.  I used small clear rhinestones for his eyes.  Then came the baby doll head.  I also added paper flowers that were originally green and I again used my Red Iron Oxide to add a bit of depth and extra color to the green flowers.  The baby doll and paper flowers were adhered using Adhesive Dimensionals.  The spider and Boo were adhered using Aleene's Tacky Glue.  I also added a border at the bottom using black script washi tape.

And, there you go.  A cute and creepy Halloween tag.

I am going to add mine to our neighborhood tradition of "You've Been Boo'd".  Some of you have probably heard of it, but if not...well, it's tons of fun.  You put together a basket full of goodies, a hanging white ghost and a note saying You've Been Boo'd with instructions on how to keep the Boo going.  You drop it at a neighbors door, ring the bell and RUN!  Then, they hang the ghost on their house (so no repeats) and they do it to someone else creating another little basket full of goodies and a copy of the white ghost.  As October rolls on it is so fun seeing the number of houses increasing with little white ghosts hanging up.

Thanks for stopping by.  Remember to leave a comment as often as you like for your chance to be entered into our PanPastel blog drawing.  Each comment you make enters your name, easy squeezy.

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
