Altered Pages is honored
to introduce you to
I am thrilled and honored to be today’s Featured Artist. With the exception of one class in pen and ink technique, I am a self-taught artist. I have lived in the Pacific Northwest most of my life and have been married to my husband, Alan for 31 years. We have three adult children and for the last 23 years, my husband Alan and I have performed in a traveling drama ministry. In addition to art, I am a singer, dramatist and a musician. I adore photography and I like writing—but my first love is art. I was wielding a pencil as soon as I could hold one. My canvas was the floor, the wall, a chest of drawers in my room—my poor Mumsie!
Cloud Ship with Original cloud photo–Cloud Painting In 2007, I nearly lost my life to a skin eating bacteria. While I was in recovery, my family bought a camera and photoshop program for me. I learned a whole new way of seeing, as I captured faces and images in the clouds, and learned how to alter them so others could see what I saw. This cloud ship was one my husband spotted.
Fragrance of Roses –As you can see, I love drawing borders, and my artwork reflects my love for Art Nouveau.
Waterfalls -Colored pencil I love to make faces into scenery. This is one of the very first ones I did. At first it didn’t turn out well at all—I had used the blender pencil and her face looked just awful. Then I decided to put in well-weathered cracks in her rock face—that made all the difference in the world. To this day, she’s one of my favorite scenery faces.
Blue-Green Forest -Watercolor I love to hide things in my drawings. One can often find hearts, words, or faces in them. In this watercolor painting, there is a hidden face. Can you find her?
River Rock Painting -Acrylic I have discovered a love of painting rocks recently. My tiny 7-year old niece often inspires me to try different things—painting rocks is one of those happy experiments.
