Fairies Double-Sided Tag Featuring Sin City Stamps

QUICK NOTE -
OUR JULY BLOG PRIZE WINNER IS
KAREN CONNER!

Hello everyone!  Today, I am so excited to tell you that Altered Pages and Sin City Stamps are partnering up this month, and both design teams will be sharing their creativity and use of products from both of these fabulous companies.  So be sure to stop by both blogs to see all the inspiration from everyone.

For my first post this month, the theme is "Fairies".  I love making tags, and so I decided I needed to use one of the oversized tags from Altered Pages in order to fit everything I wanted to include in this piece.  And I could not stop at decorating only one side, so I decorated both sides.  I love how these turned out.

I started with a blank oversized tag that measures 8-1/2" x 4-1/8".  After spritzing each side with Dylusions ink sprays and water, I began by choosing my collage images, then some stamping and fussy cutting.

On the front side (left), I stamped the crackle background stamp randomly using Rhubarb Stalk ink, then I cut out the AP-1729 Alphabet Fairies collage sheet images to spell "F A I R Y", added Gold Delicata ink around the edges, and adhered as shown.

I stamped the two fairy silhouettes from Fairies and Blossoms 2 onto scrap purple card, fussy cut, and added green Wink of Stella pen to the wings.  For added dimension, I cut into the middle wings and used foam dots beneath the center wings only.  The rest of the fairy was adhered with Scor Tape.

Next, I stamped "Magic" onto scrap white card with Gothic Purple ink, punched out with scalloped edge oval punch, and inked up with Dusty Concord distress ink.  I adhered this with foam dots.

The cute little mushrooms die cuts from Sin City Stamps Fairy 2 die cuts were added last, after I decided my fairy needed to be standing on one.  I first colored them up with Rhubarb Stalk, Pistachio, and Peanut Brittle Memento inks, which you can get from Altered Pages.
I adhered these to the bottom of the tag with a few fern leaves from my stash, and a strip of German Edging Gold Braid was adhered along the bottom edge of the tag.

On the reverse side (right), I stamped the thicket from Pam Bray's Fall Collection in black StazOn ink along the bottom, and the large flourish from Art Journaling with Terri Sproul 2 with Hawaiian Blue StazOn ink along the top.  Then I  applied Art Anthology Dimensional Paint (June Bud) with a spatula through a piece of Punchinella mask and stencil.
I next stamped and die cut "I Believe in Fairies"from Anime Fairies 2 Art Rubber Stamps, colored with distress inks, and adhered with foam dots.  A tiny butterfly, also from Anime Fairies 2 Art Rubber Stamps was stamped, fussy cut, and adhered to a single flower cut from the Floral Trim.
Next, I stamped sitting fairy from Anime Fairies 2 Art Rubber Stamps onto scrap card stock, colored with alcohol based markers, and fussy cut.  She was then adhered with foam dots.  I think she is so pretty and an awful lot of fun to color.
To finish it all off, I added Stickles glitter glue in Champagne to the mini flowers I had stamped onto the thicket stamping, and a light coat to her wings and the butterfly wings, which I also stamped onto scrap paper and fussy cut out.

One last thing, I applied a coat of Gilder's Paste in German Silver to the metal butterfly charm from my stash, and attached it with a Light Bulb safety pin to the Sari Silk Ribbons at the top.

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
