Let your dreams take Flight Journal Page

Hi Everyone it's Danie here with you all today!  As you know this month we are cross promoting with the Leaky Shed.

When I saw the cute chipboard kites from the Leaky Shed that arrived for us to use this month, I knew I wanted to use them in my journal and came up with the following journal page - Let your Dreams Take Flight.

Using my large Dylusions Journal I began by prepping my page with Gesso and then simply spritzed some Dylusions Ink in spots across the back before adding some torn paper from the Glitz Uncharted Waters Paper Collection.  Other layers of pattern and color were added with various blue tones of Gelatos and Stencils (Honeycomb 12 x 12 and Tile Texture 6 x 6) from the Crafter's Workshop.

I then got out my Dylusions Around the Edge Border Stamps and my Midnight Blue Staz On Ink Midi and stamped around the edges with the scallop border stamp and randomly across the background with the circle strip.  Some of these stamped areas I then added further color to using my Memento Markers.

Then using a mixture of Gesso and White Gelato I created a couple of clouds the larger one to be where I would place my Quote - "let your dreams take flight'.  My quote was done using an alphabet stamp set and my Black Versafine Ink.

For my kites I began by painting each chipboard piece with blue paint and then traced each shape and cut them out of some Unchartered Waters Paper.  For the middle size kite  I layered two different papers.  I stuck the papers to the back of the chipboard frames and for the kite strings I used some Bakers Twine.

To finish I added a layered butterfly to match the dimension of the kites.  I made this by simply cutting out and layering two of the same Collage butterflies together.

Thanks for stopping by today and be sure to pop back each day this month for more Leaky Shed Chipboard Inspiration.

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
