Hi! Francine here with my first Leaky Shed Studio post in July.  During July we are partnering with Leaky Shed Studio.  The theme is "flying" so I decided to make a canvas collage.

I took a 9x11 canvas and painted it blue and added some white to look like clouds as it is supposed to be the sky.

I added a Hot Air Balloon, Barn Swallow, Ornithoper and Snow Flakes all from Leaky Shed Studio.

To the bird I added a top hat, an eye and a propeller that "really moves".   A piece of twine attaches to the propeller to the hot air balloon.  The hot air balloon is painted and decorated with rhinestones and glitter.

In the middle of the Ornithoper is a clock with a key in it to signify "time flies".  I then added Snowflakes from Leaky Shed Studio.  On those I used stickles in stardust.

To the sides I added drywall tape for a little texture.  To finish my canvas I added scrabble pieces that spell out SOAR and FLY.

Supplies used:
Leaky Shed Studio Hot Air Balloon
Leaky Shed Studio Barn Swallow
Leaky Shed Studio Ornithoper
Leaky Shed Studio Snowflakes
Altered Pages charm, gesso, paint, stickles and glitter

From my stash: Steampunk embellishments, canvas, scrabble pieces, rhinestones

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
