~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning everyone, Deb McCormick here, I hope you enjoy my reverse collage box.  Here in Ohio the air coniditioning is already running, I promised I would not complain due to the horrible weather we had during the winter, but I am not complaining just stating a fact that the air is on and running at 8:30 A.M.
Well, on to more fun things, this piece has a real twist to it for me, I am a doodler/tangler for me to make a collage with ephemera and such is a new concept.
First of all I started with a tracing of a heart stencil that I had laying around and a random doodle, actually more than one doodle. I tried to give depth to this project.  I doodled the background of the cardstock, and then drew a much darker line for the heart so it would stand out as the focal spot.
I took a piece of wood that I had at home, but came to find out that I could have done this as a shadow box had I used the 12 X12 shadow box sold on The Altered Pages website.
From there I painted my piece of wood with standard acrylic paint.  I gave it a little texture with a different contrast paint color very lightly done, as I didn't want to take away from my doodle and ephemera.
I then attached the the paper to the board after it dried and used a product for decopage, I was afraid the IMAGINE Crafts/Tsukineko Momento Markers in PISTASHIO and LOVE LETTER might spread as they are water based pens, I was right they did but I really like the effect, it was lighter and more romantic.
In the drying phase, you can see how the colors ran together some, which like I said before I liked it because it made it more romantic.
After the project dried it was ready for ephemera,
I chose a stamp that I thought would fit the wood, something that was in my cardmaking stash...
I chose the beautiful pigment colored stamp pad from IMAGINE Crafts/Tsukineko Momento Luxe Rhubarb talk such a beautiful color!
Just look at how beautiful the stamped image is and I haven't even embossed at this point.  I was so excited, and fingers crossed that my heat gun still worked.....
Here you can see how beautifully the embossing process went.  I am very pleased at this point but it is a little to bright for what the effect I was looking for.  So I placed a little gold acrylic paint on my sponge brush and just touched it up a bit.  I added an gold embossed circle as well and then came the flowers and butterfly.
After the embossing and adding of the flowers I added some beads around the doodle for a little depth to finish my collage.I hope you enjoyed my piece, I had a lot of fun making it.  wanderingwhimsically.blogspot.com
I am so happy with this project and would like to thank all of those at IMAGINE Crafts/Tsukineko for our lovely samples to play with, and I can assure you I am not done playing.
 Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
