A Lunar Steampunk Card - IMAGINE Crafts/Tsukineko

Hello all!  I am really excited to be able to share some more of my inky playtime antics with my Altered Pages and IMAGINE Crafts/Tsukineko products.  Boy, what a wonderful combination.  I hope you have been following along this month, because there have been some awesome projects shared by both design teams.

We are also doing a GIVEAWAY for the month of June to celebrate our Partnership with IMAGINE Crafts/Tsukineko.
You can win by leaving comments!   We will draw a winning name July 1.

Receive: 15 x 18 inch heavy weight AlteredPages canvas tote with 4 StazOn midi Inks, Shimmer Mist, Alice in Wonderland Stamp Set, 5 assorted Tags, 5 large glassine envelopes and Washi Tape ~ WOW!

Now, for my project, a fun, lunar steampunk style card.

Directions:

Trim and fold cream card stock to make a 5" x 7" folded card.  Layer Kaisercraft print paper cut slightly smaller than card front, edged with Memento Luxe Peanut Brittle and StazOn Midi Spiced Chai.

Add striped border die cut and Travel tag from Kaisercraft paper pad to bottom and top right, respectively, also edging with the same inks.

Emboss metal sticker sheet with compass embossing folder.  Trim to 4" x 5".

Trim away excess metal

Sponge on StazOn Midi Orange Zest
Sponge a thin layer of GlazOn over metal to protect the ink.  When dry, sponge randomly with StazOn Midi Blue Hawaii.   Layer to card along upper left.
Make a stencil and mask by cutting a circle the same size as the moon face onto a scrap index card.  Lay stencil over  Moon tag and spray Goosebumps texture spray.  When dry, sponge Memento Luxe Peanut Brittle through opening.
The Goosebumps gives this awesome texture and forms a resist for the ink.  I think it is a perfect imitation of the moon's craters, don't you?
To protect the freshly colored face, place the mask (circle) over it and sponge Memento Luxe Rhubarb Stalk over the tag, starting from the mask and moving outward.
Add another ink layer using the Memento Luxe Peanut Brittle.  Edge tag with Peanut Brittle and StazOn Midi Spiced Chai.

Water spritz a piece of dyeable seam binding and add StazOn Midi Orange Zest with sponge.  Scrunch up to dry.

Add seam binding to moon tag

Use gears die to cut two pieces of Vertigo translucent film.  Ink each with StazOn Midi Spiced Chai.  Cut to fit beneath the tag, as shown.  This film is really fun and has such a shimmer and shine.  I love how it allowed for the print paper to show through.

    2. These sheets are made by Ranger (Tim Holtz). You can find them online or you may find them in your local craft store. If not, you can google Ranger foil tape sheets and you should find lots of stores that carry it.

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
