Sunday in Arizona

Hello to everyone, it's Jean from Arizona.

FIRST THINGS FIRST!
Happy St Pat's Day to all the Leprechauns out there!

I have some bits and pieces for you today.   The first is die cuts.   We often use die cuts for what we see as they come in the package.   Below is an example of using layered diecuts that in no way "match" but are used to create a colorful embellishment.  This is also a great way to use pieces of your papers you may not otherwise consider.

This layered piece includes diecuts DAMASKNameplates, 2 FlourishesAdornment as well as a nesting cut for the base to which I added Stickles.   The top center is a collage image from AP# 591 with a couple gems for good measure!  I used the Damask die partly right side up and right side down just for something different.  Cutting Dies are on SALE HERE

The next bit is how you can have fun with a Vision Board.

A Vision Board allows you to make a visual reminder of your goals and desires. The idea is to create a board and then place it where you can see it everyday. It is at least a subliminal  reminder for you to reinforce that you DO have goals and they may be attainable!

Using your choices of collages, create your personal life and goals

Did you always want to Dance?   How about be a Beauty Queen?  Travel to Exotic places?     We can help make your vision board FUN and a great reminder that you can achieve what you desire.

Use images from magazines or books as they strike you.  A piece of cardstock or poster board, glue stick or tape and you are on your way to making Dreams come true!

Have fun and remember, Cutting Dies are on SALE see them by clicking here

  1. HELLO, JEAN. I've been making vision boards for at least the last ten years. It has become a new year tradition with a group of friends who gather to make them every January. The group has grown to the point where there are now three or four sessions to accommodate everyone who wants to participate. I have several that I keep out all the time to remind me of goals I hope to accomplish. Some are on artist's canvas, others are in altered books, one is on an old game board, one is a ring of tags--there's no end to the way one can plan and execute a vision board. I know I need to look again at all of the collage sheets available at Altered Pages and select some to add to my collection of images for collages of all kinds I create. Here's hoping that vision boards sprout up all over the place! I'm thinking I may need a new one when the seasons change. Anne, yourmainestamper

  5. I just read an art journal book and one of their prompts was to make a life wish list but I like the idea of making a board better. Keeping it in plain sight would be a lot more inspirational. Thanks for sharing.

  6. I love the vision board idea, and also putting different die cuts together. Both wonderful tips. TFS

  7. I too love the idea of a vision board, I have been reading heaps about manifestations and how visualizing things in great detail of what you desire and concentrating on them actually helps them be achieved as it puts it out there for the universe to deliver. A vision board works on a similar theory.

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
