Celebrate Life with the Robin's Nest and Altered Pages!

I got some happy (e)-mail in my inbox recently from Jean which was titled a 'Silly Collage for You' so I just had to open it straight away!  I wasn't disappointed either as on it was the most adorable picture of spring colored chickadees.  You know the type you see under lights in the animal nursery exhibits at most local/country shows.  Being a lover of birds especially the bright and colorful I just knew it was going to feature on my next project.  The collage sheet with this image available from Altered Pages is called Spring Whimsy.

Throughout this month we have been cross promoting with the Robin's Nest who have a fabulous range of papers and embellishments perfect for all occasions, celebrations and adventures in life and I just love them. The AP Team were sent a range of their Spring and Easter Inspired Papers to use, along with some of the wonderful dew drops, embellishments, stickers and their rub-ons.

My finished Chickadee Card, with other Easter Papers and Dew Drops from the Robin's Nest.

Their Sorbet Glitter Papers part of their Easter Collection are some of my absolute favorites.  In-fact I used them on my last project here on the blog and I am using them again today!  Why.because they go perfectly with my Spring Chickadees. Don't you think?

A closer view of my Chickadee Card

I have simply torn a strip of the three colors and layered them onto my card base and then matted my chickadees onto a piece of yellow and my Celebrate Life Sentiment (one of the Robin's Nest Rub ons) onto a piece of pink.  Both of which I added a piece of pink washi tape to for some added interest. I chose not to embellish too much and rather kept it simple to let the image and papers shine and boy don't they shine?  I love the wonderful glittered effect of these papers.  My punched flower was a leftover from another project.

I think Spring and Easter is a wonderful time of year to celebrate life and the beauty around us, don't you?

Danie xx

NB.  As a side note I have to say I am not a huge fan of using rub on's but the quality of the Robin's Nest is truly fabulous.  They are one I am confident in using as they have always worked perfectly first time with very little effort needed.

  2. The card is adorable! The colored peeps take me back to Easter years ago when the small town stores gave you colored peeps with a purchase ! Somehow the one year we ended up with 5 peeps (no wonder with a family of 4 girls)!! My oldest sister had to carry them up the hill to our street...thanks for the memories! I have to make her a card! grin!

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
