Waiting for Spring!

Hi Everyone!  It's Danie here with you today and to those of you in the Northern Hemisphere I know you are all hanging out and can't wait for Spring to Arrive.  With thoughts turning to Spring I am sharing a quick Journal Page done on A3 Size Watercolor Paper using some of the wonderful mixed media art products you'll find at Altered Pages.

My background was done with Dylusions Spray Inks (Lemon Zest, Lime Fresh and Funky Fushia), my flowers (six petal water color blossoms) were done with my After Midnight Dylusions Spray Ink, and my Water Color Pencils and Niji Pearlescent Water Color Paints which were applied using my Niji Water Brush. The Leaves and Dragonflies were done using my Mini Botanicals Stencil from The Crafter's Workshop.

In the below video I share with you how I create my flowers and leaves for this page.

Here's a variation of this flower using punched circles for extra detail..

Same blossoms with extra detail added to flower centres

Spray Ink with Stencils for some Quick Cards

And my last photo is of a quick and inky card using the spray inks and my mini botanical stencil.  This CAS Design also incorporates a sentiment and some Glitz Washi Tape for added interest.  When using your stencils with Spray Ink don't forget to mask off any areas you don't wish the ink to go.

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
