A Little Book of Angels

I was inspired by the collage Ivory Angels to make a little book using a variety of shades of ivory and off white- the many shades of winter whites that evoke the emotions of a snowy day, heavenly clouds, and the textures of knitted blankets, mittens, and sweaters.

Add in a little bit of sparkle with some tinsel and some quality Niji Pearlescent Watercolor Paints which are my go-to tray to take on the go with a Waterbrush from Japan!

I did some stitching to not only create pockets for some manila tags but also to add more texture to my book. My finishing touch was to add some mist in white or pearl to give the effect of a light dusting of snow over everything (I used Dyslusions in white which may be temporarily out of stock but the Maya Mist iridescent pearl, which I also have, would also work and is in stock).

I always include some nostalgic ephemera from my thrift store collections and I formed the book from a single 12 x 12 sheet of card stock. It contains 3 double sided pages and 3 pockets which each hold a tag. It measures 4" x 6" and makes a perfect little gift.

Handmade gifts, cards, and tags are the nicest way to show loved ones your creative side.  Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
