Sunday in Soggy Arizona

Well Kids, it is a wet day in the sunny state of Arizona.

Last night we watched the most amazing light show from the patio, it was a musical performance from the heavens.   It cooled off and we took our seats for some amazing entertainment.

The kids are visiting and we discussed what thunder and lightning are.   Gabby's friend told her it is Bob the Wolf growling (and she never lies) and I told them about my Grama telling me it was the angels bowling in heaven. I told about my mother-in-law making everyone go to the basement when it was storming (NO, not in Kansas, in Pittsburgh PA).  Jake was far more scientific and explained it was electrical charges in the atmosphere.   To which Gabby said, does no one in my family have an imagination?

how is this for inspiration?

We tried to count the lightning but couldn't keep up with it, when we got to 60 in less than 30 seconds we stopped and just realized we were meant to simply enjoy it!    There must have been 1,000's of bolts while we sat there.   Some went sideways from one cloud to another, some went vertically to the ground, others splintered into several jagged bolts shooting off into separate places.   We did not hear any sirens, so that was a good thing.

This morning  started off with a BOOM as a deluge of rain, thunder and lightning woke us all.   We had to rescue Bueller the turtle, as his habitat got flooded.    The TV went out (OMGOSH) so the only thing left to do was, as Gabby said "Let's go outside and watch nature's TV".   Have I told you she is a wise old woman in a child's body?

It's all calmed down now & the earth got the good drink she was waiting for.

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
