SUNDAY BETWEEN THE LINES

DO YOU READ BETWEEN THE LINES?

DO YOU HEAR THE EXTRA NOTE?

DO YOU ADD YOUR OWN IMAGE TO WHAT YOU SEE?

YOU ARE WHAT IS CALLED AN ARTIST.

Jean here on Sunday.  I was journaling and looking for images to fit my mood.
While I am not necessarily a Fairy person, I was struck by the ethereal beauty of the
Fairies tell us anything is possible and even probable!

The book is hand sewn using waxed threads and heavy weight watercolor paper.   A recycled hardback book cover is used as well.   The Fairies were cut from the collage and applied to fabric which I misted with the Maya Mists and then outlined with our Micron Pigma Brush Pen.   I used old torn sheet music on which I used an ink sweeper and Paris Trunk Walnut ink to help age the paper.   I really do like the soft effects Paris Trunk inks give, they can be deep but soft at the same time.   I also used Crystal Lacquer to adhere the papers due to their fragile nature and translucency.

I thought it needed a bit more and did an overlay of brown tulle with a blue gem to pick up the blues of the fairies.

I know I need to work on my lettering, I can't seem to regain the free hand I used to have, but practice is what helps, so I need to get busy!

I really needed to do something and while this is far from the best, it felt good to work at it and get my fingers glue covered and inky!

I hope you see between the lines everyday!

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
