My "Witch Rides a SPOON" for a Special Altered Spoon Bloghop

WELCOME to Altered Pages!!! Susan here with a special post for a very special event. Today I am celebrating my five year blogiversary...and I've invited everyone to join me in altering wooden spoons. Please click the squares below to jump to all the stops on the hop. To get to the beginning of the hop please CLICK HERE.

I was so inspired by the collage sheet AP-458D Wicked Witches and I knew instantly what I was going to create with one of my spoons...a witchy woman riding a spoon. I plan to put her into a recycled plexiglass shadow box frame with a really fantastic quote.

Compete with bling - this Witchy Woman is Riding Her SPOON!

My spoon is base painted with Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer and Garnet Terri Sproul Mixers. I affixed orange gems and clear dew drops in the bowl area with Crystal Lacquer. Around the spoon edge, I adhered orange tinsel trim with double sided tape and wrapped black raffia around the neck of spoon.

The handle is fiber wrapped with 3 kinds of shimmery, fuzzy goodness. I added some dimension and pizazz to my gal on gloves, dress and shoes with some black embossing powder that has glitter in it. I actually printed and cut out two images and cut out areas to layer above spoon to give depth.

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
