"Mirror...Mirror" Do You See an Altered Art Journal Page???

Welcome to Altered Pages and I hope you are enjoying your Sunday! Susan here bringing you another page in my Art Journal created using Altered Pages Digital Collage Sheets, Glitz paper and some German Scrap detailing.

I have to admit I have had quite a creatively exhausting day which involved dodging torrential storms from Tropical Storm Isaac {which is still passing through}. The weather had my creative muse in a tizzy and I have begun four separate altered projects - three of which are using embossed metal {my orginal planned technique for today}. It seems my muse had another plan today and this art journal page is the one of the four projects to come to full fruition today...and I love it!

The great thing about "ALTERED ART" is that anything goes - AND - absolutely everything can be used for creating. To begin, I pick a few images to play with, get out some supplies and set out working very organically [meaning I just see where things lead]. I collaged the background and I decided I wanted to use this quote is from AP-2020 Frightful Images digital collage sheet. But it is a riddle about a mirror...so I needed a mirror, and an ornate frame. Guess where my frame came from???

Right off the cover of my Glitz Paper Pack! This complemented perfectly with the table scene with cat which is from AP-778 Black & White ATC digital collage sheet. I fussy cut it out and carefully trimmed out the center which I covered with a piece of polished and aged aluminum foil. I aged foil with black acrylic paint and then buffed it away, then rubbed some gold ink for patina.

I hope you like my latest entry in my art journal "Mirror...Mirror".

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
