Goin' Rogue!

Yes, I am that girl that tends to go rogue when a deadline is approaching!
That said deadline being this blog post!
See, we recently changed up the DT calendar & I didn't have a thing ready to post since I had just posted last week & it's been a crazy "kid's outta school" week!

SO, I decided to post something a little different...Don't get mad at me Jean, but, there are only a handful of supplies from AP used in the following pictures! BUT that is only because I was using up my own stash of stuff that has accumulated over the years & didn't have time to place an order before this post! But, OH how I wished I'd had even MORE of the fabulous finds from the AP shop!!!
AND, ladies & gentlemen, this project can SO easily be done WITH many of the supplies purchased at Altered Pages!!

So, without further ado, I present my Tiny Village...I made these with my Art Gypsies gal-pals (we meet every month to do something fantastically creative together & I have to say, this was my idea & they were all OVER the moon for it! We had a blast that day!)
Wooden houses made by collaging patterned papers, texuring (OF COURSE) with paint & stamps, then adorned with a TON of found objects!!!
If you look closely, you will notice 2 BINGO numbers on the two houses on the left...That's my new house number! Aren't I clever! HA!
There are key fobs, keys, metal objects, clothes pins taken apart for roofs, chipboard pieces, wooden rulers - vintage & new, tongue depressors, buttons, earrings, small hinges, clock faces & more that make my little village all the more fun to look at!
This is one of my favorites!
There's REAL screen behind the door!

I even had a chance to make another one for Maggie's teacher from her old school whom we will see tomorrow! (her first & last name begin with an E, so I used a vintage block on the roof!)
See that AWESOME ruler?
THAT is the EASIEST thing to point out from the AP shop!
So many of the other things have gotten mixed in with my own stash that I can hardly tell them all apart!! But check out my links below to find your own menagerie of objects to adorn you own Tiny Village at home!
(Below, Maggie had to get in on the action with her little puppet gobbling the building!)

Cheers!

Supplies similar or available at AP:
Paper: ANY of the GLITZ papers would be AWESOME for this, as well as the Antique papers from Bazill!
Stamps for texture
Wooden Objects - like the ruler & BINGO pieces

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
