Fairies

If you love fairies you need to check out all the Altered Pages Fairy collage sheets ! I fell in love with fairies as a young girl. My mother would tell us not to pick the flowers in the garden as they were home to fairies.  We had one of the most beautiful gardens in the neighborhood! Cut card stock and Glitz background paper to size. Use chocolate ink to distress edges of Glitz paper.  Adhere ribbon to the Glitz sheet and layer on the ivory card stock Fussy cut the roses from a second sheet of the background paper and fussy cut fairy. Adhere wings, fairy and layer roses on the card.  Add a gem to the flower on the fairies head. Altered Pages Supplies: Background paper from the 6x6 Glitz Paper Pack Hello Friend Fairy from the AP collage sheet 1060D Fairy Dolls My stash: Ribbon, wings and gem. Base card and Ivory card stock

Winter Dreams of Summer....

When I was drifting off to sleep last night listening to the sleet / ice hitting the window I was thinking how nice it would be to be some where warm - LOL!!   As a result I wanted to share a collage I made using artist spackle, metallic mists, some of Altered Pages beautiful vintage beach images and a few other goodies...   Memories of the Sea....     I applied a thick layer of the Artist Spackle to a game board (cut to size).  Then while the spackle was still wet I embedded a strand of faux pearls, sea shells, sea glass and a pearl.   After the spackle had dried I applied various shades of the dye mist ink to the entire board.     I then set about creating a collage of summery beach images in the center and even included a small vial filled with sand collected while visiting NJ.     So, if you're stuck inside watching the rain/ice/snow coming down... don't fret - summer is on it's way :)   Until then, stay safe, warm and

Another ATB for your review

ATB's are so very versatile!   This fantastic creation was done by Ingrid Vient The ATB was first painted with several colors of acrylic paints and  then sanded. The wings are cut from cardstock, misted and sent through an embossing folder. The Frozen Charlotte was treated with a ready made 2 step rust solution.   The tea stained lace was then wrapped, tied and adorned. The small round text items were plastic caps sponged and inserted with old text. And they say we should throw things away????  Not us, we are the PICKERS and the upcyclers. Thanks for looking! Jean

MORE CHINESE NEW YEAR FUN!!

I am still enjoying making things about Chinese New Year.  The year of the Snake is just so cool and the  Altered Pages Store  has fun things to keep enjoying this fun event. I made this card to send to a friend for no reason. Just to say HI!!  I used red cardstock and made the card base 6x6.  I took some  Vintage Text Paper , tore the edges and applied that to the center of the card.  Next, I used some  Asian Joss Paper , wet the gold leaf and used it alone on the sides of the text.  I put the fun circle of Asian text (found at the store)on top of that, and  the graphic in the center and the words below it are from the  Year of the Snake  collage sheet. Last, I added a piece of  scroll strip  to the corners. Thanks for checking out what I've been up to!!  Please check out the store and get all of your supplies to make your own "Year of the Snake" projects! xxDaniella

Gelling with my Gel Plate!

Hi Everyone!  It's Danie here with you today!  I am so happy right now as I have crossed another item of my wish list in the past week!  When I received my last Altered Pages Order it included my new Gelli Plate and what fun I have been having with it ever since. I love getting messy and creating totally random backgrounds (when I have the time) so this was just the new toy for me.  I hardly had it out of the box before I started playing.  Luckily it came wrapped in some extra huge bubble wrap which was perfect to use to make impressions with and remove paint from the plate.  With my plate I had also ordered some of the new Splash Inks , so I tested these out also. I dropped random drops of the four Splash Ink Colors on my plate, and then using my brayer I ensured the ink totally covered the plate.  In doing so I got a wonderful random mix of colors to which I then pressed in the bubble wrap to create a simple background which I have used for my card I am sharing today!  The j

A Venture into Mail Art - sort of!

Hi there! Becky here today to share something new to me...   Mail Art   (sort of!) I say "sort of" because it's not the traditional Mail Art that you would trade with someone in a swap, like ATC's. But rather a box that I completely decorated as part of a submission to Somerset Studios! You may remember the sneak peek I gave you a couple weeks ago of my Gypsy Art Book that will hopefully be in the shop as a kit soon... Original Post HERE Well, I decided to submit the book to Somerset Studios Magazine! And I thought to myself, "What better way to grab their attention than a painted box in the mail with my book inside?!" So, I hopped in the car & visited the local PO for a box & to make sure the USPS doesn't have issues with completely covering the box with paint! "Nope! Not a problem at all," she said! Here are a couple pix of the completed box... The process was completely messy, so I didn't take pi

A Chunky ATC!

Believe it or Not, this ATC started out as a block of wood!! Yes, you can purchase  Artist Trading Blocks here at Altered Pages. They are a lot of fun since you have four sides and a top to work with.  To start paint the block with gold craft paint. Cover the side with  French Kiss Glitz Paper . Get the images you would like to use on your ATC, for this one images are from: Color ATC Pink Valentines of Nations ATCs Paris    This fussy cut lady was actually on a Valentine, a few feathers were added to her hat. On the sides with the ladies there are few gems in the lower right. A little netting was added to the hat behind the big bow of this lady.  The Eiffel Tower is from the  French Kiss Glitz Paper  pack.   The Leaky Shed Fancy Keyhole can be found at Altered Pages HERE ! Vintage trim from my stash was added around the bottom to give it a finished look. Finally it was topped off with beads, buttons and a jewel. Hope this convinces you try to make a few AT

VALENTINE FOR HIM

HHeeeelllllloooooo! How's everybody doin' today? I am so sure you know about our awesome  Challenge Blog , and our latest challenge is Red Heart/Golden Festival.  I made a Valentine for My Husband for the challenge with mostly products from the  Altered Pages Store .  It is hard to find masculine Valentines so I thought this Valentine I made would be super cute and not too girly. I started with a  Library Pocket and tag  and painted them with  Niji Pearlescent Watercolor Paints .  To the pocket, I stamped an Italian Poetry stamp over it.    I put the GoldScroll  on the bottom, the  Kraft Calendar  with the date circled above that and the  Pen Nib  pointing to it.  Pretty and still masculine, I think.  The tag was stamped with bubble wrap in red ink.  Then, I stamped the jar and the "I love You".  The  Hearts  I stamped on white paper with red ink and cut them out.  I put them inside the jar with foam dots. So that's my masculine valentine.  Mayb

Love Struck!

Hi Everyone!  It's Danie here again today with a Valentine's Day inspired ATC.  Yesterday I went shopping for some SVG Cutting Files and couldn't resist one that included a cute Cupid.  I have teamed him with some great products you will find at Altered Pages (see the links below) to make my Love Struck ATC. My Base is a piece of Vintage Candy Burnt Sugar Core'dinations and I have embossed this with a random flourish embossing folder and then sanded back further the design to reveal the core.  I then took my Faber Castell Gold Gelato and buffed some of this color across the design.  With my Spellbinders Labels Die I cut a piece of the music score paper from the Glitz Pretty in Pink Paper Collection .  Both my cupid and the banner are from SVG Cuts Cutting Files and cut on my Sizzix Eclips Machine whilst the hearts were punched.  To finish my ATC I adhered these elements to my card front along with the Kraft Typo Number - No. 14 and added a touch of glitter to

Coupons of Love

Love is in the air!  It's getting time to be thinking about those Valentine's gifts for your loved one. I created this coupon book to share with the one I love.  It's a fun and easy gift to make.    I cut a piece of white card stock that measured 11" x 4" and rounded the right hand corners.  Then, I folded it in half and scored 1/2" from the left side.  Next, I sprayed the paper with Cherry Metallic Maya Road Mist and let it dry.  I stamped the heart on using the Glitz Love Games Stamp Set .   For the inside, I cut several pieces of white card stock that measured 5 1/4" x 3 3/4" and lightly rubbed a Garnet ink pad by Paris Trunk over the entire paper.  I stamped the banners on using the Love Games Stamp Set by Glitz.  I added them to the cover using a double sided tape  and finished it by writing in some special love messages that can be claimed by my wonderful husband and adding a piece of Washi Tape to complete the cover.    Th

Blooming in the Chinese New Year!

I created my fun "Bloom ATC" using the Collage Backgrounds Oriental AP-1724, Gold German Scrap and original one-of-a-Kind Chinese paper scrap from AlteredPages.com. I printed my background collage on both tissue paper and cardstock to create faux washi tape layers on top of edged oriental backgrounds. The papers were edged with Black Paris Trunk Ink and layered on top of  a corrugated and painted ATC base. $1 store silk flowers were pulled apart and reassembled in to petite buds and upholstery remnants were rolled into beads for added embellishment. The year was punched from mini playing cards and a piece of tissue was attach with Crystal Lacquer to make it transparent.  I hope you enjoy celebrating the upcoming Chinese New Year with my Bloom ATC!
