Chinese New Year Banner Wall Calendar

Hey everyone!   It's time for the Altered Pages monthly challenge again, and the theme for this month is Chinese New Year, or Year of the Horse.  I have been having so much fun with my Silhouette and my  Altered Pages  collages sheets that I had to make one more inspiration piece for you. I printed out  AP-2251 Year of the Horse collage sheet , as well as a mini 2014 calendar from the internet, die cutting and trimming, as shown.  Very simple.  Each of my images were edge distressed with  Mix'd Media Inx  in  Schoolhouse Red and Black.  Perfect!!!  And here is a close-up of those images. I always like to finish off the back of everything I make, well almost everything.  But have you noticed how people always turn your work over to see what is on the back, if anything?  Lesson learned, always finish off the back of your work, and don't forget to sign your work.  So here is the back ofmy banner.  More co...

Dance Like Nobody is Watching....

All of us here at Altered Pages have been having fun creating projects for January's Snow Dancing Challenge , myself included!  Here is the card I made.... Dance like nobody is watching...   It may not look it but the skater and the background are actually two separate images.  I started off by printing and painting the background with Pearlescent Watercolor paints by Niji.  They are an amazing watercolor paint with I think mica mixed in.  They give you an amazing shimmer and shine that is so hard to pick up with the camera.   Next I colored the skater with my Sectrum Noir markers and added a bit of Flower Soft to her costume (bottom of her dress, sleeves, neckline & hair piece).  I then cut her out and mounted her to the card with double stick foam tape to make her look like she's leaping right off the card!   The flourishes were cut using some of the Glitter Silk Paper and I have to tell you it's beautiful stuff!  T...

Paper and Ribbon and Feathers...oh MY...what a Beautiful Witch Hat!

Welcome to Altered Pages and I hope you are enjoying your Sunday! Susan here to share my Halloween type of headdress made of paper, ribbons, feathers and bling. Are you playing along with Altered Pages first " Alter Your Creativity " Headdress Challenge? There's still time. On Every Second Monday of the Month we plan to bring you a new Challenge to encourage you to step a little out of your comfort zone and " Alter Your Creativity ". Each Challenge will run until the last day of the Month and the Design Team will vote to pick an overall Winner and a Top 3. My paper hat is adorned with feathers and a beaded gem spider! The great thing about altered arts is that everything and anything can be used for creating. I created a simple paper hat form finished with a rim with a pretty sheet of patterned paper. I really love the "Fascinator" style headpieces - so I created my own to adorn my witch hat. WOW! Now this will be so fun to wear...

Alter Your Creativity with Altered Pages Challenges

We are excited to announce our very first Alter Your Creativity Challenge at Altered Pages. On Every Second Monday of the Month we plan to bring you a new Challenge to encourage you to step a little out of your comfort zone and Alter your Creativity.  Each Challenge will run until the last day of the Month and the Design Team will vote to pick an overall Winner and a Top 3. Last month Jean set the Design Team a Challenge to design a headdress.  She offered the following images to the team as inspiration.         To put it simply a headdress/headpiece is any item of clothing that adorns the head, it might be a crown, a helmet or simply a scarf embellished with jewels or feathers.  The only limit I guess as they say is your imagination. The Design Team have excelled themselves for this challenge and will inspire you to play along with this month's challenge theme which is to Design a Headdress, we also want you to vote for your favorite ...
