Hi everyone it's Danie here today.  I love playing with color so when I received the fabulous Radiant Neon Inks from IMAGINE Crafts I knew they would soon be one of my favorite inks to play with. Today I have a decorative seed packet for you which makes a perfect way to enclose and give a gift card or you can fill it with anything you heart desires.  This one was designed with an upcoming seed packet swap in mind. After cutting out my Seed Packet I used Gel Medium with a stencil to create some texture. Once this was dry I sponged color over the packet using three colors of Radiant Neon Inks. The colors brought out the stenciled design fabulously. I then decorated further with some torn music score paper, resin flowers, and stamped phrases all of which were also colored with the Radiant Neon Inks to coordinate with my packet before finishing with some collage butterflies and doodling with a black pen. As you know this month Altered Pages is pairing up with Unruly PaperArts , a blogozine filled with creative ideas, art and inspiration.  Each month they cover a different theme ~ Aprils theme is Mail Art & Moos with a creative prompt of  Teacups & Tiaras.   Altered Page Artsociates are also incorporating laser cut chipboard from  Leaky Shed Studios .  If you've been following along this month I think you can tell we're all having great fun with it. Here is my offering for you today... a very British Postcard.... The teacup was painted with gesso then covered with two layers of the Silks Acrylic Glaze.  I used the Inca Gold Guilders Paste on the crown, rim of the tea cup and saucer.    To make the thin gold line around the outside edges of the postcard I used a scrap sheet of paper and positioned it so only the very edge of the postcard was showing.  I then rubbed the Guilders Paste over this exposed area and re...

Yes, today is Vernal/Spring Equinox here in the Northern Hemisphere.... It is also first official day of Spring for most as well ~ even though the weather might not reflect it. What better time than now to Celebrate Life! And since Altered Pages has teamed up with The Robin's Nest this month they make the perfect pair for this pair....   A card in a tag! So I figured this would be the best of both worlds ~ a card and a tag meshed together in one.  The tag base is from Altered Pages which I colored using Gelatos ; I then cut and mounted a piece of Kiwi Sorbet cardstock.  I created a little pocket using the stripe side of the Bunny Cardstock .  The paper lace and card were both constructed from The Robin's Nest Purple Ants Glitter Cardstock . I embellished the tag pocket with a bit of brown ink along the edges; rub-ons from the Viva sheet of rub-ons; a bit of pen work (using a Micron .05 pen) and a few pearly Dew Drops .   I finishe...

Ink Stained Roni here.  This month Altered Pages Artsociates has the fun opportunity to incorporate products offered at The Robin's Nest into our projects. If you've visited my blog you'll know I love to re-purpose every day items destine for the trash bin into art.  Today I wanted to share what I recently did with a tin can I saved from the recycle bin. I started off by covering the entire can with a few layers of gesso.  The gesso allows you to add various color mediums that you might not be able to otherwise. Once the gesso dried I covered the can with Dylusions Spray Ink...  I heat set the colors on each side before rolling it and adding more until the entire can was colored.  It was fun to watch the inks run down the little grooves in the can because as they did they combined to create new combinations. I added a strip of Aquamarine Sorbet cardstock to the center of the can which I added a line detail to the edge using a Micron pen. ...

Roni here....don't you just love it when you get fun art supplies in the mail?  They just scream play with me and won't quit until you do.  Altered Pages is getting in so many fun new art supplies that I just had to place an order recently and when they arrived I just couldn't contain myself, I had to break them out and give 'em a whirl right then and there. I grabbed the first piece of paper I could find which happened to be a piece of watercolor paper that was a cut-off from a recent project.  It just so happens it's the perfect size to make a bookmark.  To start off I drew a quickie flower using a Micron Pen . I then added a layer of Silks glaze to the flower bits using my Niji Waterbrush ... I then added a bit of Niji Oil Pastels for the sky.  I blended the pastels, added a bit of pen work and finished the sky off with a clear layer of sparkle using the Wink of Stella brush. for this project you will need 4×4" Chipboard Squares Niji Pearlescent Watercolors Niji Waterbrushes Collage Sheets : Redoute II and Redoute III Pigma Micron Pens Paris Trunk Pad Walnut Brown gesso Process: 1. Gesso each Chipboard Square and set aside to dry. 2. With a mister, spritz the colors of the Niji Pearlescent WC that you wish to use--I find that pre-moistening the colors give them a fuller coverage. If you prefer the more sheer look then simply add water with your brush on the dry cake. Apply this shiny watercolor to your surface however you desire...I love the look of brushed splotches--almost dry brushed--and then speckles of color flicked from an old toothbrush. Set aside to dry. 3. use a template to trace letters or freehand letters on floral collage papers and cut out. Adhere letters to individual tiles.
