A Tale of February

What do Seasons mean to YOU? Is your art dictated by the seasons?   Let's explore the creative muse.   Being artists or even casual creators we are visual and tactile, therefore our surroundings seem to affect us.   If I say blue what comes to your mind?  The sky or water or? If I say winter what do you see in your mind's eye?    When I say apple, do you visualize a red apple, a green apple or apple pie?   Basic instincts drive our thoughts, we all react differently based on experience. Your Muse may come from visual images, a word or even a smell.   If you allow those cues to prompt you, your art will be free and flow easily.    Throw down some paint, then see what hidden images are in the splotches.   A great exercise is to use watercolor with salt.   Put down any colors you want on paper, then sprinkle salt on it. "Dragonfly Dreams" Card Front

Here in Central Texas, as the Blue Bonnets bloom and warm breezes blow in the soft sounds of Spring, I await the loopy flight of dragonflies.     Until then I will create my own, with this lovely set: Muse Dragonfly Rubber Stamp Set .  I am going to use similar techniques I employ for my Art Journaling each day. This month the Altered Pages Design Team is creating projects using stamps from all of the amazing Malibox Muse Kits from over the years.  This should be a lot of fun seeing what everyone comes up with...no theme, no prompts, just beautiful deeply etched red rubber stamps as our Muse! For my project I am using the  Alphapalooza stamp.   I am also using a new product at Altered Pages,  the Gelatos Metalic Lux set.   There are a number of new Gelato sets to choose from.  They all look amazing and they come with so many goodies.  The set that I chose has metallic Gelatos, Texture Lux in four colors, stencils, metallic printed paper (I am using one here), canvas paper, cork paper, palette paper, palette knife - I mean you get the idea.  It even includes an idea guide with step by step instructions for some techniques.   Now, for the details. Here is the beginnin...
