HAPPY NEW YEAR 2013 New Years is a day when the past can be forgotten, just like the song says.   People can forget the problems of the world for a few hours and celebrate the pure joy of the possibilities before us. A blank page or canvas or paper or lump of clay is in front of us waiting to be filled with accomplishments large and small.    Sometimes we overlook the small accomplishments as meaningless.   I think that is not true.   Each small effort is a beautiful unique action that can have lasting impact.  As simple as a n uplifting note on Facebook , the ripples go out and touch someone in ways we may have never expected .   When was the last time you stopped and thought about your childhood?   Did you ha v e a special person who mentored you?  Maybe a teacher or an aunt, your s ibling or a friend .   What would their words be on th is approaching New Year ?   If you did not have someone, perhaps YOU can be that person.

New Year's a Comin....

Let the count-down begin!!!     Here's to a safe and happy New Year!

Yule Greetings with German Scrap

The Shortest Day by Susan Cooper And so the Shortest Day came and the year died And everywhere down the centuries of the snow-white world Came people singing, dancing, To drive the dark away. They lighted candles in the winter trees; They hung their homes with evergreen; They burned beseeching fires all night long To keep the year alive. And when the new year's sunshine blazed awake They shouted, revelling. Through all the frosty ages you can hear them Echoing behind us - listen! All the long echoes, sing the same delight, This Shortest Day, As promise wakens in the sleeping land: They carol, feast, give thanks, And dearly love their friends, And hope for peace. And now so do we, here, now, This year and every year. Happy Friday! Today is not only the day of the end of the world but also the shortest day of the year--Happy Yule. In celebration of the coming of winter I have created this art tile that I've added to my work space

Santa Treat Box Card

One last Christmas project for the year.  Sometimes, you are in need of just a little gift for someone unexpected and this treat box card is the perfect little idea.  I've made these for several years now and this year had to be my favorite time of making them because of the great collage sheets from Altered Pages .  This sheet is the Santa Then and Now collage and it has become one of my favorites to use.  It went perfectly with the Joyeux Noel patterned paper by Glitz and helped to create this gorgeous little treat box card.  Another great thing about this is that it can be decorated to fit any holiday or theme.  Would you like to create your own for future holidays?  Keep an eye on the  Altered Pages website for an upcoming kit!  Merry Christmas Everyone! ~Peg

NO WORDS

It's been hard to think about much of anything since Friday.    The outpouring of love from the Art community is wonderful.    I am hopeful that the Holiday week coming up so soon will help ease some of the sadness and painful thoughts for some of us.   It will be a holiday with reservation however for me.     Here are some photos to feel good about..... Have a fantastic week of comfort, kindness  and love surrounding you.

Christmas Shadow Box

Hi Everyone!  It's Danie here today, I wanted to start my post today by saying that our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with all those who have been personally effected by the recent events in Connecticut. It was only as I came onto the computer to do this post that I read the horrible news. Our sympathies and deepest condolences go out to all the families who have lost their love ones in this massacre. For this reason I will keep my post very short. I have been working on a Christmas Shadow Box to house a selection of small Christmas ornaments. I have once again used the vintage papers from the Graphic 45 Christmas Emporium 8 x 8 Paper Pad . I haven't finished embellishing it fully, but I thought I would share it with you and you would get the idea.. This Compartment Shadow Boxes with lids is available from Altered Pages and they are a wonderful way to display those special trinkets or use as a storage box for all your crafty bits and bobs. Danie xx

Twas the Night Before Christmas.....

Today I wanted to share a few pics for the kit I created for December.... It's my little Spool Story Christmas Tree ~ Twas the Night Before Christmas !   It's a beautiful keepsake tree that holds the story of the night before Christmas on the tree's spool base.      I walk you through step by step on how to lay-out the story on the vintage text... (You also get lots of SUPER vintage Christmas images to choose from to embellish your story.)   Show you how to make the entire tree from scratch...     Right down to adding the sparklie star on the top!   I make it with the thought that it would be a lovely tradition to start in your home... reading the endearing holiday story hidden beneath the old fashioned looking Christmas tree!   Blessings to you and yours this holiday season!   Ink Stained Roni

SO CLOSE TO CHRISTMAS

TUCSON AZ. 4th Ave. Fair The year is closing soon, it sure flew by!    I wanted to share some artwork with you from the Tuscon Art Fair this weekend.    Took a day off and walked the streets with thousands of others.   Tatto parlours, Hooka shops, Vintage clothing, doodads & FUN.   The colorful metalworks were so fascinating.  Many booths would not allow photos but I did get some where I could.      Face Painting is a REAL Art form at this event!   Happy Sunday from AZ JEAN

Blingy Framed New Year's Inchies

used in this project : AP2048 : Dressed to Ring in the New Year Collage Nesting Doily Squares [set of 5] Bling, Floss, Card Stock & Adhesive My project today features one of the amazing Lifestyle Cutting Die Sets in the AlteredPages.com store. The smallest die is perfect to create a small frame for INCHIES!!! I'm fairly new to inches--they are little pieces of art on a 1"×1" square. Artists trade them just like trading cards. I created my little inchie frames by diecutting the smallest square on some of my favorite Bazzill card stock and then I sewed, using the holes punched with the die, some embroidery floss around the framed and tied a bow in a corner. I added crystal bling to the corners and attached my 1" squares that I cut out of the images from the collage sheet. The 1" squares were edged with a black marker to help them stand out a little. For me these fun images of New Years celebrations was a super addition to my frames. I hope you e

Christmas Greetings

Hi Everyone!  It's Danie here again today and I have another Christmas Card to share with you all as I am still trying very hard to make a dint in my Christmas Card List.  I have found yet another wonderful Christmas Collage Sheet to play with.  This one is called Mid Century Christmas Retro (AP-2061) and it really has a great mix of images suitable for both Cards and Tags. My Christmas Greetings Sentiment is from the Even More Christmas Images Collage Sheet (AP1027) which I have used previously along with papers from the Graphic 45 Christmas Emporium 8 x 8 Paper Pad .  All of these wonderful products you will find at Altered Pages. For further interest I have used some items from my stash also.  I tied some Gold Satin Ribbon around my Card and then used a Sunny Yellow Pearl Pen to create some wonderful texture. I was inspired to use the Sunny Yellow on my card today as it sums up the weather here today as the temperature soared to a very hot and very unpleasant 40 degree

Decking the Halls at Altered Pages

Need to do " a little" decorating yet this year?  Sometimes there's just no place to fit a big tree, but that doesn't mean you can't have one. I purchased this small 12" tree at one of my local stores and decorated it using bottle caps and the Christmas Bottle Cap collage sheet from Altered Pages .  They make beautiful ornaments for any tree, but especially a small one.  There's even a bottle cap die to make the cutting of them quick and easy.  Fill them with a little Crystal Lacquer  and allow to dry, add a small piece of ribbon for a hanger and you're ready to decorate. Need a tree topper?  Create your own using a piece of the Joyeux Noel paper and this wonderful  Santa image from the Colorful Christmas collage sheet.     Let the decorating begin and create your own small ornaments this year.  Just think of the possible places where a little tree would make the holiday spirit brighter...your desk at work...your craft table...f
