Play with textures? The Crafters Workshop stencils are one of the best ways to do so! Our Halloween Children collage allows these kids to walk in the spooky woods! Will they get treats or be tricked?  As a kid were there spooky woods near your house?  There was near mine, in the daylight we would play and have a great time, but at night, well, that was a different story.   To walk home alone from a friends house could be a frightening time.  Noises and shapes in the shadows made it a quick trip for sure!   I coated my substrate with Gesso Aspen Trees stencil by Victoria Case  makes for a splendid background.  In the finished piece I did a background of Orange Slice heavy body acrylic with the overlay of Kale Smoothie. (green+orange=brown). The torn corrugated was randomly coated with TCW Kale Smoothie acrylic and another random application of Quinactridone interference.  (see the glow from the quinactridone) ...

My home has always been wherever the love of my life is. When my husband and I married in 1984, that is when my life truly began. I used the following: Foundations Décor Sweet Heart House    Printer Copy of Picture and Text Paints and Pastes and Mediums      Inks    Stencils    Hardware Foundations  Decor   Sweet Heart House   was the perfect blank canvas to celebrate our 33 years. Instead of transferring one of our wedding photos I decided to just decoupage a printer copy of a picture.  I also printed the text on the printer and then got to work. Next I added some texture with paint and mediums through a stencil. Back as well. Also painted the heart. I used the following as well as pastes. I needed some good holiday fun in the studio and played with texture--my favorite of all design elements. For some play amidst the holiday bustle, here are the ingredients to use: Canvas Art Anthology and Chalk Paints    Dew Drops    Pastes, Stickles, and Gold Leaf    Wood Blocks    Sisal Trees    I painted the blocks and the chipboard with chalk paint. I love the Art Anthology texture paints and covered a hardboard canvas with the Lime color. After I slathered it on in thick lines, I used some bubble wrap to create more texture and a pattern. I used a lot of paste and Stickles and gold leaf on the chipboard. I used the Fiesta from Art Anthology on 3 sides of the block. I removed the sisal trees from their bases and sprayed heavily with a gold spray. A niggling idea would not go away..."could I impregnate muslin strips with paperclay and use chipboard to leave an impression"? I had to find out: Yay! It did work and the results were highly satisfying. I'm going to share the simple steps for a great impression and a piece that can be used as a tag or  incorporated in mixed media work. Here are the supplies: Chipboard Elements    Paperclay    Inks and Sprays    Gelatos    Metallic Rub-ons   Muslin Strips Here is what I used:   I placed a thick chunk of paperclay over the chipboard element. Then I played the muslin strips, left over from another project, on top of the paperclay. Pressing down to push the paperclay into the fabric. Let dry over night. Peel away the chipboard and save it for another project. Admire the impression. Another look at the handiwork: Inks will soak into the paperclay and the muslin. Let dry before adding Ge...
