Holiday Cards with Shimmer, Dimension and Shine using Altered Pages Collage Images

Welcome to Altered Pages - hope you are enjoying your weekend! Susan here and now that November is upon us, Christmas card creating and handmade holiday gift making is in full swing. Today I am sharing a Christmas Card I made using a single digital vintage image from AlteredPages.com . This is a vintage Christmas greeting { AP single 601 } of a holiday storefront window. I printed out four copies onto a matte finish white cardstock. Four copies are enough so that I can accent and dimensionalize the base layer, then accent sections of the figures that I cut out and raise with foam pop dots for a faux 3-D effect. I accented the details using different colors of the  Terri Sproul Mixers  and also made the window dimensional by painting with  Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer . I cut out the figures and sections to build up multiple layers using foam pop dots. Before adhering, I finished off the white edges of the hand-cut pieces wi...

This Halloween Jester is Ready for the Costume Party!

Welcome to  Altered Pages  and I hope you are enjoying your Sunday! Susan here bringing you a charm I created using an adorable  Altered Pages  Halloween Digital Collage Sheet, fuzzy fibers, shrink plastic and a shimmery bead to top it off. Now I have a festive necklace to wear for Halloween. I started out with this lovely digital collage image "Jester Halloween". The images from  AlteredPages.com  are so fun and diverse - and their uses are endless. This cutie has been begging me for creative attention and love - so I decided to make a charm for a necklace. I printed out this image onto my shrink plastic following directions and punched holes around. Then I let the magic happen in my toaster oven. I edged with silver foil tape and laced with sparkly orange and black fibers. I topped off with a large sparkly orange bead. Now I have an adorable necklace with vintage flair ready to wear for Halloween. The size of my shrunken charm is abou...

Paper and Ribbon and Feathers...oh MY...what a Beautiful Witch Hat!

Welcome to Altered Pages and I hope you are enjoying your Sunday! Susan here to share my Halloween type of headdress made of paper, ribbons, feathers and bling. Are you playing along with Altered Pages first " Alter Your Creativity " Headdress Challenge? There's still time. On Every Second Monday of the Month we plan to bring you a new Challenge to encourage you to step a little out of your comfort zone and " Alter Your Creativity ". Each Challenge will run until the last day of the Month and the Design Team will vote to pick an overall Winner and a Top 3. My paper hat is adorned with feathers and a beaded gem spider! The great thing about altered arts is that everything and anything can be used for creating. I created a simple paper hat form finished with a rim with a pretty sheet of patterned paper. I really love the "Fascinator" style headpieces - so I created my own to adorn my witch hat. WOW! Now this will be so fun to wear...

Application of Image Transfers made with Altered Pages Images and Sakura Crystal Lacquer

Welcome to  Altered Pages ! Susan here bringing a little more image transfer play. My image transfers were created using Altered Pages Digital Download Collage Sheets and Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer. I am so excited to get back to work with this peacock image transfer - it's so beautiful!!! This image is from the Altered Pages Tiffany Windows AP-493 Collage Sheet. To prepare my mirror, I gently took apart the frame from handle and removed the glass. Then I spray painted the mirror handle and frame with gold spray paint. Now I'm ready to apply image transfer to mirror handle. **A TIP** To uncurl the image transfers - I misted with a small amount of water to prevent additional cracking and to make image transfer easier to work with in application. Please watch the following video to describe further... This is completed applied image transfer after about an hour of adhering and adjusting while working in small section...

Ooh-La-La!!! Image Transfers transformed into a Parisian Lightswitch Plate Redux

Hello Night OWLS! Susan back with a completed project as promised using some of the image transfers made earlier today. Due to extreme thunderstorms all afternoon, spray painting my mirror has been delayed. The beauty of having many project ideas allowed me to move on down the list. I am so excited to work with this peacock image transfer - it's so beautiful!!! I got out recycled lightswitch plate and began altering it. Using  Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer  now available at  AlteredPages.com , I adhered down some sections of book papers previously painted using Crystal Lacquer and the Terri Sproul Mixers. **A TIP** To uncurl the image transfers - I misted with a small amount of water to prevent cracking. I used the Crystal Lacquer to adhere the Eiffel Tower and "Paris" image transfers on top of the collaged papers. With some acrylic paint, I brushed in a foggy sky and a cloud over the tower. This really give the image a photographic feel. I finis...

Image Transfers with Altered Pages Collage Sheets and Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer

Welcome to  Altered Pages ! Susan here bringing you a NEW but old technique to use with your Altered Pages Digital Download Collage Sheets. I have ordered several collage sheets from  AlteredPages.com  and today I am using some of these to make image transfers using the Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer. YES!!! YOU CAN YOU MAKE AN IMAGE TRANSFER using CRYSTAL LACQUER!!! I love making image transfers, yet the process of it is so dragged out unless you do a box tape transfer {with this you are limited to the width of your tape and you get a super high gloss sheen from the tape}. I will be doing this so much more now! So sit back and watch how I've made a couple image transfers using some Images from AlteredPages.com . I will say - with Crystal Lacquer - this process is accelerated by not only hours...but days! Via the magic of Ustream... I bring you a step-by-step on making an image transfer! There are se...
