Hi everyone Danie here with you today - this month is all about showcasing the wonderful digital images sold at Altered Pages.  What I love about Digital Collage Sheets is that with a simple editing program on your computer you can resize, recolor and shape them however you desire to create your project, you may even like to crop and cut out parts of the image and combine them with other digital elements and create a whole new piece of digital art. I have been working closely with images of the feminine of late and have been particularly drawn to the colors of the rainbow and goddesses with wings this past week or so, so I was feeling really called to play with a beautiful image fitting into this type of theme from the Lovely Ladies Collage Sheet. I started by cropping my desired image and saving her to a new file which I then resized and printed out onto a piece of A4 Paper so I could play in one of my larger journals. Hey, let's just have fun and experiment!  We are going to play with a trending art form  that you may have seen a bit about;   String Art.  It is fun and easy and the results are pretty incredible. You will want to use a watery consistency of medium  as your "ink".   You can use diluted  acrylic paints, Gelatos or Splash inks .  You then s aturate pieces of  twine  in the colors of your choice.    I prefer using gloved hands for the next few steps.  Sometimes I like messy artsy looking hands, but I had literally just had my nails done this day and did not want to lose my French mani. ;-)  Now, lay the twine in a meandering pattern from the top to the bottom of your paper.  You can use an art journal , as I did here with my Dylusions journal, card stock or even a premade craft card .  You basically just need two pieces of paper to sandwich over your twine.  ...

Hello again! Today I am doing a simple traditional stencil technique to use on a journal cover. SUPPLIES: Journal substrate : This one is from my stash but there are a lot to choose from at AlteredPages.com Stencil : I used Balzer Designs 12 x 12 stencil "Trendy Images" from The Crafters Workshop Paper adhesive scissors Acrylic Paint White Gel pen or acrylic paint liner Embellishments Ribbon I have to admit, ever since I got this stencil, I knew I was going to use the eye image. Not that the others aren't cool, but that eye!!!  So, I had this little book cover and I don't collect autographs so I wanted to make it either into a junk journal or art journal. Well, I still haven't decided which, but I had to re-cover it to start.  Found this awesome hand-made paper in my stash and adhered it to the front of the cover. The Design Team and yes, including across the pond,  has been having fun with spooky creations.  This journal page was created using scraps stamps, paint and the colorful Altered Pages collage sheet DAY of  the DEAD downloaded from Altered Pages.  June Mac had a great time with our collages.  Stay tuned for stenciling! This month Altered Pages is partnering with The Crafter's Workshop.  I don't think there is any better way I like to play with stencils then with lots of colours and mess about in my journal. I broke out some Free Flow Acrylic Paints and squeezed and scribbled paint across pages in my Dylusions Journal. Lifting the pages and tipping the book up and down I allowed the paint to run, merge and pool across the pages and then taking a piece of watercolor paper I pressed over and blotted up excess paint and in turn another background paper to work with later.  I used my heat gun to dry this a little also. Next I reached for some stencils I own many from The Crafter's Workshop today I chose three designs by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer, Circle Explosion, Blazonry and Mini Square Scrolls and worked with some Black, Ultramarine Blue and White Paint and a sponge. I have been still playing with the Under the Sea Theme since my return from my recent seaside retreat.  I am participating in a journal swap and chose this as my theme and then having a Fishy Altered Pages Collage Sheets turn up in my mail box recently I decided to play some more. This is a double page spread I created in my small Dylusions Art Journal . Because I was not using paint on my initial background layer I choose not to Gesso my pages.  I took some watery colors from my Gelatos and scribbled across the background before smearing and smoothing the color in with a baby wipe.  I then used some Navy Blue Ink with some bubble wrap to randomly stamp some bubble like detail. A piece of 8 x 8 paper from the Color Me Happy Paper Collection from Glitz had a net like appearance and was the perfect color.  I tore this in half to add a piece to each side of my spread and added some bubble wrap stamping to this too. Have you been enjoying all the wonderful projects being shared by the team this month?  There is so many wonderful wood items to choose from to get your creative juices flowing from Wooden Letters and Words to Flowers and Leaves to Photo Frames and Home Décor Pieces such as houses and hearts. One way you may not have thought to use wood is as journal covers.  This is exactly what we used at the recent retreat I co-hosted with my friend Julie who owns my local art studio/store Time to Create.  With our seaside location in mind we thought we would capture the feel of drift wood with some light weight ply.  My co-hosts husband cut the wood to size for us and drilled the holes for binding and we then proceeded to add a few light coats of paint and scratched this up a little with the ends of a paint brush.
