Stencil Mania is a GOOD thing!

Stencils bring so much inspiration for me.  They allow me to have a jumping off point for a project.  Today I wanted to share my excitement about Spring. The natural choice was Dutch Spring created by 'Art by Marlene' from Crafters Workshop.  Please see the supply list below, along with some tips for getting you stencil ready. Bright, colors are perfect for this stencil. I have to say that I cheated and got a dollar store substrate, for one buck, you can't go wrong! I gessoed the board first and then used modeling paste with another layer of black gesso (quite honestly because my white gesso had sat too long without being shaken and was clumpy!   Drying it as I went with my heat gun.  Then I  began laying oil pastels and acrylic paints freely. Dollar store substrate Gesso, modeling paste and more gesso                               This...

A day of art play with Creative People

These shots are from my work this week. But read on to see my ARTSY friends at play.                                              I began with the darling  Foundations Decor WITCHES BOOT.  I painted it with DIXIE BELLE Paints for my base coat.    Then I added Art Anthology Sorbet in purple for subtle sparkle and texture.  I added a die cut from our Halloween papers...'Toil and Trouble'.   The buckle was coated with Art Anthology Sorbet and while wet I sprinkled purple mica chips for a bit of bling.  The piece of orange ribbon was added to make the buckle POP.   I played with various ribbons and lace for the photo stem.   My cigar box was covered in our Halloween papers and our Halloween 6x6 Die Cut papers.     I chopped up a plastic skeleton and applied him to the top of the box. ...

Journal Box by Debi Tullier

Journal Box by Debi Tullier I love repurposing things and this time I am using a packing box. It is small and I think it is perfect for a little book holder. Here is my Journal Box or for my grand-daughter. She loves animals and her favorites are Cats. However a sweet little pup has made her life complete for now.   She wants to write about herself and her pets so why not a journal box. Small bound books will be inside to capture her thoughts and sketches.  I will share the finished box with journals later.   S ee you next month!  Supplies: Box Aleene’s tacky glue Decoupage paper (on Hand) Art Anthology Velvet in Limeade Splash Inks Crystal Lacquer and mica mixers Collage Sheets:  Cats at Play Gypsy Soul Laser Chipboard Metallic marker (on hand) Watercolor Pencils

Repurposing for Organizational Use!

I was really worried about this post. I am not organized in any way. I try but ….. Well two days ago I started a challenge to become more organized. I need to so that I can move in my studio, LOL! So I decided to make something that would actually help me corral some of my stuff. I am happy that it worked. For my project I used a number of products from Alteredpages . I used Delicata and Staz-on ink pads. Various stamps (love the rubber stamps) which I pounced parts of all over the place. I used some tulle that I had received from a mailbox muse kit. It was the winter 2015 – Baby Baby Baby kit.  I love it. I hope you have fun watching my video. I hope also that you will give repurposing or recycling a try…see you next month, debi

H is for Halloween!

Back again for another fun and spooky project during this month long celebration of Halloween! Welcome to day 25!! The Altered Pages Design Team has been treating us with a month full of SPOOKY projects! Be sure to check back each day and see what they create with our partner ArtAnthology's products!  Comment each day on the blog for a chance to win a prize package from ArtAnthology and AlteredPages.com Altered Pages is also one of the 31 Days of Halloween blog hop sponsors. Our Design Team is participating in the hop... if you would like to hop along the blog roll is on the side bar! And here is my combo card.... H is for Halloween! The card blank was created by inking black cardstock over the very fun cyclone stencil from ArtAnthology (gotta love that design!). The "H" was printed off of the "H" collage sheet onto cardstock.  The paper was trimmed to size, torn on one edge, inked then painted using Art Anthology's Im...

Book of Spells

Welcome everyone to another installment in the  Altered Pages and Art Anthology cross promo month.  The Altered Pages Design Team is also taking part in the  Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween blog hop.   I hope you have been able to take a look at all the  fun we have been having.  Be careful...I might need to use my  Book of Spells on you.... I started my project with a vintage law book and  a few goodies from my Halloween decor supply.  I have a number of them laid out here as I was not quite sure which I would be using. I began by laying down a very thick layer of hot glue in a messy pattern onto the book.  I then embedded the plastic skull figure.  Next, I used the hot glue to make a spider web and adhered the spider with more hot glue.  The next step was to coat the entire book with gesso.  I will be painting the whole book out and the pai...
