a summer rose

Just a sneak peek at a project I've been working on-- The summer rose is from one of the many beautiful floral themed collage pages at Altered Pages.  There are so many beautiful images, I have a hard time choosing.  The butterfly pages , those are favorites of mine, as well, especially when printed on transparency--but that's another  project . . . Have a great weekend, everyone! :)trisha

International Fairy Day Blog Hop with Leslierahye

Altered Pages Design Team member Leslierahye is hosting an International Fairy Day Blog Hop! We have several fairy collage sheets in out collection that are perfect for the  day. For this special occasion I have created a couple of "button fairies" using the  Altered Pages Collage Sheet called "Fairy Dolls" .  I have combined buttons, gears and other metal findings to create the fairies.   To make them wire together layers of buttons and gears to create the "tail".  Adhere image to a thin piece of chipboard, fussy cut the image and glue to the top button.  Add wings and gem to head piece. What is your favorite?

Do you like Wine, maybe a Cosmo or a Gimlet?   Do you drink Skinny Girl?' We came up with a perfect hostess gift or keeper as a fun and purposeful upcycled project.     Stephanie and I collaborated, and with some inspiration from the Muse, developed a darling wine accessory! This starts out as plain old coasters you might get at a restaurant or bar.   Then collages are added to create the right mood.  Using a cropadile, holes are punched, a metal ring inserted and simple wine glass charms are made and inserted onto the ring or each coaster hole.   This keeps both items together so there is no searching for one or the other.    We like the idea of variations using a martini motif or hot pink and black for the Girls! Have some fun and try it.  Our collages include wine labels and other advertising that is PERFECT for the project.... see them here, along with our glues.

Wrapped Up

A few weeks ago I asked Jean about these amazing Sari Silk ribbons that she got for the store. I had been inspired by some beautiful creations that an online friend does with ribbons, fibers, beads and such. I wanted to create a wrapped bracelet my style! with some beautiful remnants [I LOVE upcycling], some altering with my favorite alcohol ink markers, and of course beads and charms. I hope you enjoy! Along with the gorgeous Sari Silk Ribbons, Jean sent these fabulous charms and beads. they are a great silvery-pewter color which makes them PERFECT for coloring with Alcohol Inks. If you don't have alcohol inks, the next best thing for coloring them [and in my opinion the BEST option] is with your alcohol based markers...Spectrum Noir, Copics, Sharpies, BIC Mark-Its are all alcohol based. They make it easy to make your accessories match your ribbons. Figure out the length of your wrap up by wrapping an length of beads [loosely strung], or your ribbon around your w

A Nostalgic Summer Photo Album

Aloha! I hope you are enjoying your summer where you live! (Unless you are one of our friends from down under and are enjoying your winter.) Where I live it's endless summer. But no matter the weather I  have always resonated with the Isak Dinesen quote: The cure for anything is salt water---tears, sweat, or the sea... This quote, and the fact that I grew up in New York not far from Coney Island, inspired me to create this project.  I found an old photograph album in my stash from a thrift store purchase and decided to use the Altered Pages "Ready to go Package" called On The Boardwalk   to create a scrapbook for daydreaming about time travel back to when men (and women) could still look good in those one piece Union Jack style swimsuits. Thanks for visiting and don't forget Altered Pages is the BEST source of vintage images, ephemera, and has lots of NEW Graphic 45 collections for all of your vintage and Steampunk projects. Zentangles have my attention Lately

I admit it..... It is for lazy and selfish reasons I like Doodles.   They are very portable They are not messy They can be quick or take time as you desire They are satisfying They are calming with orderly chaos They make me feel good 4 hours                                                                            2 hours                                 1/2 hour each AlteredPages does carry both Micron Pens and doodle cards , fine quality, pressed rounded corner 3 x 3 paper cards for doodling.  I store my pens and cards in a small cigar box for easy portability.    Some of you may have books on the topics of tangling or doodling and I have found some favorites, I also have found several great videos on YouTube.    Try to watch these for inspiration and relaxation.....each a different take and style.   Click on each video to see the differences A Doodle Video by Millande Stacked Doodles by Cindy at Rainbow Elephant Doodles by Robert Gas

An Elephant Never Forgets

Aloha, Gia here to share a Father's Day card I made for my 5 year old to give to my husband this year. It references the common belief that elephant's have a good memory, something that my dear husband does NOT have thanks to diabetes. I used some of the supplies from the Spring 2013 Mailbox Muse kit Serengeti Sunrise . I love to travel and have been on many different continents but not Africa (yet). With this kit and my love of creating I can experience adventure in my imagination!  This kit has an epic safari theme with images of exotic animals like giraffes, lions, zebra and my personal favorite- the elephants. The artwork in the images is by Karen Ward and is really special. As of the time I am writing this post these kits are still available on the Altered Pages sister site: Mailbox Muse  I also used some Happy Travels paper from Glitz Designs from the Altered Pages website. The heart map is from the Transparency Pack of the same line. Here is the inside se

I was due to design a kit for May and as I love my Faber Castell Gelatos I was thinking of a way to introduce others to how easily and versatile they are to use. This kit is simply called it Mixing it up with Gelatos and the contents of this kit enables you to create and personalize your own canvas board using Gelatos and other Goodies from Altered Pages. The full instructions included with the kit details numerous ways to use these Gelatos to create rich color, full textured backgrounds and to coordinate your elements to suit.  You will be water coloring, layering, blending, finger pai

Goin' Rogue!

Yes, I am that girl that tends to go rogue when a deadline is approaching!  That said deadline being this blog post! See, we recently changed up the DT calendar & I didn't have a thing ready to post since I had just posted last week & it's been a crazy "kid's outta school" week! SO, I decided to post something a little different...Don't get mad at me Jean, but, there are only a handful of supplies from AP used in the following pictures! BUT that is only because I was using up my own stash of stuff that has accumulated over the years & didn't have time to place an order before this post! But, OH how I wished I'd had even MORE of the fabulous finds from the AP shop!!! AND , ladies & gentlemen, this project can SO easily be done WITH many of the supplies purchased at Altered Pages!! So, without further ado, I present my Tiny Village ...I made these with my Art Gypsies gal-pals (we meet every month to do something fantas
