Little gifts that say they are appreciated.

Do you have a hairdresser, is the supermarket person always friendly, how about the Barrista who keeps you fueled?   Here is a little something that simply says.... Thanks.   Emerald Creek has offered us some inspiration this month and we like to pass it forward! These can be multi-purpose gifts.   They can be placed on a hanger as an ornament, have a pin back added or have magnets on them.  You can simply have the bottle cap or add it to a snowflake like this one.  Doesn't have to be for Christmas but can serve as a gift for anyone of any faith. Start with our collage #3084 and bottle caps, new or used.  Clear or shimmery Embossing Powder makes it an instant gift! A 1 inch punch is the perfect tool (or you can fussy cut the circles) for the collage images.  Glue into the bottle caps & allow to dry.   Apply clear embossing powder over the images, add some glitter if you like.  S...

A birthday GIFT with meaning.

What do you know about your friends Do you know where they were born?  How about their maiden name?   Their birthdate?  How many siblings they have?   Do they have tattoos? Do you know their favorite ice cream flavor or do they like Pie vs. Cake?    Well, I thought I would put myself to a test and create a  personalized birthday gift for a pal.  She just redid her art room with new paint and furniture so this will be a perfect new accessory decor item for her! I thought of what could I do to make it truly unusual and specific to her based on her life.    I found a socket that you can make into a lamp and attach to a mason jar.   OK, I can do that.   I then got an Edison bulb for the socket. I proceeded to fill the jar with our fabulous ephemera packs that related to her.   she likes playing board games   she lived in Pittsburgh long ago  she is a fabulou...

The Procrastinator's Project

"You need 30 candy gifts for class? Tomorrow?!?" "I overheard at lunch that my co-workers give out Valentine's Day treats. I need 20; stat!!"   Whether we mean to, or not, "surprise" projects can catch us off-guard, unprepared. Sometimes the thought of one more task after the Christmas season, is unthinkable.  I read a blog post recently on crafting burnout and can identify with it. My weariness when my therapeutic art and craft sessions became a job, robbed me of the joy I had associated with my creativity sessions.  I borrowed a idea from the past to turn that stress into a procrastinator's easy-peasy project. Perfect when you need to churn out multiples; it's midnight and you have that unopened bag of Kisses or Doves candies.  Here is what you need to get started: Valentine's Day images from AlteredPages.com     Adhesives    Stickles    Silk Ribbon    Scoring Tool  ...

Sea Life Frame

"With frigid temperatures on their way,  book tropical cruises and plan to play." I had a fabulously fun time playing with with my   Modena Soft clay from Activa   (This clay is non-sticky & super easy to use.) Using this  Seashell Mold  I was able to create some embellishments for my frame. In less than an hour it was dry enough to remove from the mold, but I would air dry for at least a day before using. It continues to dry into a sturdy, flexible state. This clay was so user friendly that I could use my scissors to trim away the excess.           (I kneaded in  powder  and gelatos  to achieve color.) Using a bare wooden frame, I ran a bead of  gel medium   on the front and covered it with a scrap piece of tissue paper; pressing it down to adhere. (Keeping it loose and crinkly adds great texture.)  I then painted on the tissue paper with acrylic paints which further adhered ...

Crepe Paper flower boxes

Hi Everyone, Jess  here and I have a confession to make.  I am the crazy lady that buys the half used rolls of crepe paper you donate to the thrift store.  Yes, I have crepe paper in many, many shades just waiting to be made into something wonderful.  Today I am going to share one way to make flowers using that leftover crepe paper. Start by using your circle punch to cut out as many circles as you can.  Layer your crepe paper before you punch.  Trying to cut a single layer of crepe paper will leave you with tattered paper and make for lots of grumbling under your breath.  Also, don't worry if the circles aren't perfect you are going to be squishing them so some tattering won't be noticeable. Once you have your circle cut you will want to grab your hot glue glue and place a tiny dot of glue in the center of one circle.  Place a second circle on top of the glue to make a tiny sandwich.  Keep layering your circles like this un...
