A couple tricks up my sleeve . . .

In my last post, I shared one of my favorite embossing powder techniques, that Faux Glass finish, which you can see here .  Today I'll share a couple more of my favorite embossing powder tricks. Nothing beats the wonderful digital collages from AlteredPages which are the perfect items to emboss and add to your cards, collages, books and more. First up, embossing powder resist.  Simply use a clear embossing powder to create an image on vintage ephemera or Altered Pages Collage Background, here a butterfly onto sheet music, then rub ink over the embossed image.  The image remains the color of the ephemera underneath.  Fun, right? Another favorite embossing powder trick of mine is to use the embossing powder to create an edge to pieces, whether small ones attached to collages or cards, or as in this case, to create a finished edge to altered chipboard dominoes . These chipboard dominoes have leather lacing and glass beads attached to create bookmarks--thus,...

an altered Alice book with Altered Pages and ArtAnthology

Happy Thursday, everyone!  I've been working on another altered book, this one with an Alice In Wonderland theme.  Here is the cover--it has a niche full of Alice related items: Some delicious ArtAnthology Baby Blue Eyes Sorbet paint cut with gesso added a tint to the fabric cover, and on the back of the book cover, you can see the paint "straight"--such a pretty color--used with a stencil: back cover--the edges are distressed with crayon I'll be sharing layouts from the book with you as things progress--I'm thinking the Baby Blue Eyes should make for some great water effects, as it has wonderful texture when applied more thickly than I used it here . . . thank you for stopping by, and don't forget to leave a comment to be entered in the October draw for some yummy ArtAnthology and Altered Pages products. :)trisha Art Anthology Baby Blue Eyes Sorbet Inchies Playing Cards Collage Page Delicata Gold Ink from Tsukineko Specimen Bottle...
