Pretty can be Powerful

Happy Sunday to everyone from Jean I wanted to share some images with you that represent red and beautiful, pretty and powerful too!  Feel free to copy them for your files.  Also, see our collages which have many gorgeous red images and backgrounds.   Feed your inspiration with RED!   Red can be lovely or may hit you between the eyes! Red variations include colors such as scarlet and crimson. The connotations of each variation may vary. Darker colors, like maroon or burgundy, represent an action that is more restrained and sophisticated. Brighter shades, like scarlet, imply more energy and less dominance. Red is the color of fire and blood, it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love. Red is an emotionally intense color. It enhances human metabolism, increases respiration rate, and raises blood pressure. In China, the red color of the packet symbolizes good luck. Red ...

Amour . Love makes the world go round

So much fun to be had this month with the theme of 'Love Makes The World Go Round' at Altered Pages. This is my second piece using the theme and I had a ball creating a tag this time.  I chose cream, gold and chocolate as the color theme and went and from th ere.            First, I cut some card into the shape of a tag and punched a hole in it using the hole tool.  You could use a manila tag for the base. I randomly inked the textured card with brown ink.     I wanted a little more of a chocolate tone of brown so I used some mica paint through a mask in a couple of random places on the tag.   I chose this image from the collage sheet. Adhered  it to the tag with tacky glue. I added some cream lace. Inked the edges of the tag,  then added some Platinum Stickles all around the edges. Add a little bow made from burlap fabric shaped, tied and edged with Platinum Stickles. Fin...

Angels Abound at Christmas time

Hi there, it's Jean to share my Angel with you.   My Christmas tree and decorations are bright colors but I always have a soft spot for a sweet angel.  This sweet girl (not sure why but I think of angels as girls, maybe because they are often adorned in pastel colors) glistens and softly shines.        I added glitter to the chalk paint and coated the angel. The Collage angel I chose was fancy cut and applied with watery Aleenes glue. Next was the wings of lace and the flowers, I did this before anything because I wanted to coat it all with glitters.  I used four glitter styles. Fine iridescent white and pale pink and chunky pink over top.  Layer upon layer of glitters, it is after all Angelic!!  The final glitter material was flakes added to the bottom edge in a greenish tone to pick up the green in the flowers.  I hope you can see all the sparkle!    Supplies...

Fun With Layers and Textures

Welcome! For the month of August the Altered Pages  Design Team is a proud product partner with Prima Marketing...color us lucky!   For my first project this month I have created a floral wall hanging from an extra piece from this fun steampunk gearbook, which you can find  here.    You can see below that I began with round chipboard.   I added torn piece of tags and product packaging...I keep these little bits as they are great for adding texture and it is a great way to recycle.  After I adhered the bits down with  Tacky Glue  I added a thin coat of  white gesso  using my  craft stick or palette knife. Next, comes color in greens and pale blues and a bit more texture.  This was done with  inks   and acrylic paints found here.    I then added a bit more texture with  vintage text pages... definitely one of my go to tools.    After that was adhered using ...
