A Venture into Mail Art - sort of!

Hi there!
Becky here today to share something new to me...
Mail Art
(sort of!)
I say "sort of" because it's not the traditional Mail Art that you would trade with someone in a swap, like ATC's. But rather a box that I completely decorated as part of a submission to Somerset Studios!

You may remember the sneak peek I gave you a couple weeks ago of my Gypsy Art Book that will hopefully be in the shop as a kit soon...
Original Post HERE
Well, I decided to submit the book to Somerset Studios Magazine!
And I thought to myself, "What better way to grab their attention than a painted box in the mail with my book inside?!" So, I hopped in the car & visited the local PO for a box & to make sure the USPS doesn't have issues with completely covering the box with paint! "Nope! Not a problem at all," she said!

Here are a couple pix of the completed box...

The process was completely messy, so I didn't take pictures along the way, sorry! But, along with many of my go-to painting supplies, I also used my Gelli Plate, a new floral stencil from the shop & of course, my Gypsy image! You can see more pix on my personal blog with a little more explanation of how I went about it all.

That's it for me today!
Cheers!

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.

Full Circle

Hi all! Becky here today! I have been in a circle-mood lately & have been doing circles on everything! So why not do some circles with some of my Gelli Prints??? Here's a simple little card I made using 4 different circle punches, a black pen & some previously made Gelli prints! Hope you're enjoying Springtime in your area! Cheers!
