Hi it's Judy Wood......
Today I will share a fun mixed media project! This can be used to make tags, greeting cards, bookmarks, journal pages, or even on canvas! Sometimes, it's just fun to play!
Step 1: You can use ANY paper, yes, even your favorite scrapbook paper! I like deckle edge paper, to get that look, you can use the metal side of your ruler and carefully tear the paper against your ruler. Any shape, any size!
Step 2: Spray your paper with a little water, then use your favorite spray ink, I used Smooch green. If you get 'blossoms', don't worry about it, they look nice and you might eventually cover them up. If you get too much spray, use a baby wipe to take a little off. Don't overwork the paper. Let dry.
Note: I wear gloves, as inks can stain your skin.
Step 3: Use vintage text book paper or printed tissue paper, crumple it up a bit, use matte medium, it helps the color(s) pop and works as a glue for the book or tissue paper. Add a little more medium on top so it becomes part of your background. Let dry.
Note: I wear gloves during this step too, as inks can stain your skin.
Step 4: This is the FUN part (but you were having fun already, right?)! Use any color acrylic paint, it doesn't take much (depending on the size of your background paper). Roll it out with a brayer, then find your favorite stamp(s) and stamp away.
Don't worry, it's going to look smudged! That's the beauty of the process! I've always loved dragonflies, I love these stamps from Mailbox Muse. Clean off your stamp(s) immediately with a baby wipe or damp old t-shirt. I decided to use my dragonfly on a greeting card.
Note: it's fun to use a variety of page corners, remember, every corner doesn't have to match!
ENJOY! I'll be sharing some basic drawing/painting/collage and special effects for journal pages in a few weeks! Be kind, be creative!
