Little flower house

JUNE MAC Created this darling 'home'

I loved creating this little hanging wooden shape.

I used a couple of different techniques but it was very simple to do.

Firstly I did think of covering the house in paint but I quite liked the look of the wood itself.

I used some brown ink on a sponge around the edges of the house.

I  had a scrap of lace for the bottom of this but decided to use it as a mask/stencil.   I taped it to the wood and then sponged the brown ink over the lace for the effect you see on it. I think it turned out nice with a kind of distressed stenciled look.

I then wanted to finish off the tag with something eye-catching so I  used a plain flower and inked it in light teal then covered it in holographic embossing powder for the sparkle although glitter would also work.

I also embossed the brad with the brown ink and clear embossing powder. The orange spots were finally added using orange stickles for a fun look. I tied some plain twine in a loop through the hole in the top of the house.   Give this as a lovely gift tied to a package!

That was it, easy peasy.

scrap of lace or other stencil

one flower

one large brad

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
