This month we are sharing Altered Box projects.
Next I took out my Gelli Plate, added a light sandy brown color and covering my plate with this paint color took my first prints. My second layer was a mix of purple, red and blue paint smeared across the plate using a credit card. Once I had my plate covered in paint, I added some shapes which were the offcuts left over from a die cut I had been using on a different project.
There were so many ideas swirling around in my head, but I decided to use my Gelli Plate to create prints that I would use to cover a previously purchased wooden box. My color pallete for my prints was inspired by a Mandala Card which was recently given to me.
I started my transformation of this box by giving it a good coat of Gesso and once this was dry, I used purple paint to paint around all the edges.

This combination gave my prints a distressed paint look.
I then traced around each side of my box on the back of my prints and cut to size to cover the outside of my box. Sticking them down with a liberal coat of Gel Medium.
Once my prints were adhered and dry I added some of the die cut shapes I had previously used as masks on my prints to the top of my box over laying the spots where these shapes appeared on my prints.
I love the uniqueness of this box. I think I will play with this idea further, as for this box the only question left is whether to add wooden feet to it or not.
Hope you all have a great week!
