Getting My Steampunk On...Christmas Style

Happy Fall Everyone!

Today, I am prepping for homemade Christmas cards using pretties from Altered Pages and Smeared Ink.  I hope you enjoy my fun take on the traditional candy cane.

Below I use the digi stamp image for Smeared Inks Steampunk Christmas Candy Cane.  The great thing about using a digital stamp is that prior to printing you can play with the size to perfectly tailor it to your project.  I also printed multiple copies to "play" with.

Here you can see that I began colorizing my image.  I used my Mica Paint Palette in pastel.  I also used my so easy to use water brushes.  I did this in not so common colors and just had fun with it.  Once this was completely dry I tore away the image leaving some space all around.  I added more of the purple Mica paint to the torn edge to give it a bit of a border.  I just think it sets the image off and gives it more importance.

For the front of my card I used the two main colors of the candy cane, blue and purple, and made a soft mottled background.  You can see the beginning of that process below.
Once that was dry I used my 1 inch double sided tape  to adhere the completed candy cane to my card front.  Now, I need to get busy making MANY more!

I just love all that sparkly goodness!

Thanks for stopping by!
Stephanie
