Love is in the air!

I'm Baaaaack!
Becky here, finally!

After a long hiatus from the team to move 30 miles across town & get settled through the holidays, I have finally unpacked my studio & ready to play with you all again!
I don't know about you, but once the New Year is over, I start thinking "Valentines!" My sister & another gal-pal & I were saying that we love to make Valentine's cards, but hardly ever send them out to anyone other than our significant others & then we never see them again...they end up in a box for other loved ones to find when we're gone!
Well, phooey to that!
So, I decided to make an altered spool for my Valentine
that can sit atop his desk for a bit {before it's placed in a box somewhere! LOL!}
Altered Pages has so many wonderful images to play with for Valentines & other "Love" occasions, like weddings & anniversaries.
The 2 images I used on this project are from the "Young Lovers" collage sheet & of course the spool is available in the shop as well!
I first painted the spool a warm white; sanded & distressed it. Measured a strip of patterned paper for the outside & another for the inside. I printed the text onto patterned paper from the computer, cut it out, adhered it & left some room for my 3 "counts of love" for my hubby. Once I was done with that, I embellished the top of the spool with some vintage finds:  a memo pin & various found objects from my stash & sprinkled some German Glass Glitter on the rose. I think this not only makes a pretty & unique Valentine, but would be great for a wedding or anniversary gift as well!

That's it for me today!
Don't forget to check out the Challenge Blog for our latest challenge "Snow Dancing", using any of the wonderful products from Altered Pages! {I couldn't quite get my act together for this latest one, but it looks like fun!}

Thanks for stopping by & be sure to browse through the store for all your Valentine needs!

Cheers!

  1. Becky, what a great idea. This would be fun to add personalized ephemera for each recipient. Love the project.

 Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.

Full Circle

Hi all! Becky here today! I have been in a circle-mood lately & have been doing circles on everything! So why not do some circles with some of my Gelli Prints??? Here's a simple little card I made using 4 different circle punches, a black pen & some previously made Gelli prints! Hope you're enjoying Springtime in your area! Cheers!
