Easter Paper Ring Garland

Happy Monday Everyone!

Roni here ~
Today I'd like to share my first official AP project with you ~
Easter Paper Ring Garland.

I'm excited to share this project because Altered Pages has so many great vintage collage sheets that you can take this basic idea and create a nifty vintage garland for virtually any occasion.

I am working with the following collage sheets -

and

To make the paper rings I was using the digital collage sheets.
By doing so allows you to re size the images as needed.

I first selected 4-5 "landscape" oriented image and sized them 1.5 x 4".  Then I added a "portrait" oriented image on each end of the landscape image, sizing these so they fit in nicely with the first.  I made 5 different "rings" on one page.  I printed out several copies of the rings on Georgia Pacific white cardstock.

After all of the images were printed I cut out each strip with a decorative blade in my cutter.  At this time I also cut up a couple different sheets of pattern paper to use as the link rings.

I then applied brown ink to the edges of each ring strip.

To make the rings you will curl the "image ring" paper around to form a ring....

and then staple the ends together to form your ring.
Repeat until you have all of the main image rings assembled.

Now thread a strip of the pattern paper through two image rings and staple the pattern paper to form a new connecting ring.  You now have the start of your garland.

Continue adding additional image rings using the pattern paper connecting rings until you have assembled the length of garland desired.

The garland is super as is OR for a bit more fun
you can smear a bit of glue on each image ring and sprinkle with glitter!
Adds a whole other dimension to the garland.

Either way you've got a beautiful vintage garland to help celebrate the holiday.

Have a wonderful day!

  1. Roni, I think this is brilliant! Some of my happiest childhood memories involve making paper garlands - never thought of doing anything other than Christmas ones... until just now! Awesome xx

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
