Independence Angel

Greetings!  I'm going to let you in on a little secret. (Or maybe not so secret?)  Design team members get creative block just like everyone else.  I fought and fought with my Muse this week trying to finish a project to share with you today.  I started with a coat of gesso on a Gypsy Soul Laser Cut articulated doll and then set her aside wondering what to do with her.  Eventually I decided to paint half of her Caucasian and half African-American...and then I stalled.  So I grabbed a Gypsy Soul hot air balloon and painted the balloon part red and used blue ink on the basket...and then I stalled.  I painted some Gypsy Soul gears with gold paint...and then I stalled. Okay, so now I have parts and pieces all over my desk and the deadline is getting closer and closer.  What to do?  I finally decided to make a card and went through several patterns of scrapbook paper.  Still not happy.  Wow, it was bad.  Then it h...

Geisha Girls Art Journal Spread Part 2

Earlier this month I shared a journal page which was the center spread for a Deconstructed Art Journal Swap I was participating in........today I am sharing the front of my created signature with you. Once more I am using one of the gorgeous Geisha Collage Images from Altered Pages, teamed with some left over G45 Papers from the Birdsong Collection.  I have used two different papers to cover the background and a couple more for accents, before adhering my chosen Geisha and then adding some black paint followed by some Metallic Rub On around the edges with my fingers.  I then sealed the surface using Gel Medium. The back page of my signature I kept fairly simple, given the pattern paper was busy and bold. Supplies used. Gel Medium G45 Birdsong Papers Geisha Girls and Geisha Collage Sheet Black Paint Metallic Rub On AlteredPages also has lovely Asian papers , click here to see them. And here's a look at all three pages in order.   ...

Journal Box by Debi Tullier

Journal Box by Debi Tullier I love repurposing things and this time I am using a packing box. It is small and I think it is perfect for a little book holder. Here is my Journal Box or for my grand-daughter. She loves animals and her favorites are Cats. However a sweet little pup has made her life complete for now.   She wants to write about herself and her pets so why not a journal box. Small bound books will be inside to capture her thoughts and sketches.  I will share the finished box with journals later.   S ee you next month!  Supplies: Box Aleene’s tacky glue Decoupage paper (on Hand) Art Anthology Velvet in Limeade Splash Inks Crystal Lacquer and mica mixers Collage Sheets:  Cats at Play Gypsy Soul Laser Chipboard Metallic marker (on hand) Watercolor Pencils

Impressive Chipboard Technique

A niggling idea would not go away..."could I impregnate muslin strips with paperclay and use chipboard to leave an impression"? I had to find out: Yay! It did work and the results were highly satisfying. I'm going to share the simple steps for a great impression and a piece that can be used as a tag or  incorporated in mixed media work. Here are the supplies: Chipboard Elements    Paperclay    Inks and Sprays    Gelatos    Metallic Rub-ons   Muslin Strips Here is what I used:   I placed a thick chunk of paperclay over the chipboard element. Then I played the muslin strips, left over from another project, on top of the paperclay. Pressing down to push the paperclay into the fabric. Let dry over night. Peel away the chipboard and save it for another project. Admire the impression. Another look at the handiwork: Inks will soak into the paperclay and the muslin. Let dry before adding Ge...

Famous Dad Quotes

This cake's image will live on forever!  We will laugh every year!  This was an ice cream cake made by a famous company with initials B and R, not saying what company, however!    I called the order in and had them repeat it to me to be sure we had it right.  They repeated it correctly!   I never thought to have them spell it!  Yes, we accepted it as it was, it was more fun that way and has provided many chuckles "To OUR Best Guys"! Here are some wonderful quotes you might want to use for cards or sentiments when scrapping. Let us hope all Men will work toward a peaceful world.  (and allow women, to help them!) ************ We have a Winner from the past week and the winner is.... CONGRATS to... Tomorrow is DAD's Day!!!

We will be celebrating Father's Day with my father-in-law... we always take him to breakfast or make one of his favorites at home.  He knows what he is getting... a homemade card and a stack of vintage postcards!   His card this year is a simple one made with a sentiment from Altered Pages collage sheet "DAD's ARE GRAND" and a GYPSY SOUL LASER CUTS hot air balloon!       Dad a couple of years ago at breakfast on Father's Day!       A few day ago I shared how I cover chipboard with embossing powder.  Today I am using Gold Leaf .  First, cover the chipboard with adhesive, today I used a very thin coat of  Tacky Glue ... let it set a minute or tow so it is just tacky.     Cover the glued chipboard with Gold Leaf  and burnish gently with your fingers... using a soft paint brush gently remove the excess.   If there are any sections missing Gold Leaf , apply Tacky Glue ...
