It's getting Dark earlier

Speaking of Dark How about something darkly spooky? Our October Partner Art Anthology has made creating such a fun time! Day 26 of the 31 Days of Halloween Hi it's Jean and here is a fun project that will have people screaming happy screams! I used an ATC size card and coated it with Art Anthology Terra Cotta velvet paint.  I then stamped a background with Delicata Silver .   Then I stamped a tree and skeleton head with Black Versacolor ink .   I used a scrap of G45 paper for trim and doodled the edges with my Gold Gel Pen .   Fun and easy to do.... I love making magnet gifts here are some more I made.  I give them to everyone as a little treat!   Hairdresser, nurses, massage therapist and in hostess gifts.   Graphic 45 papers , ATC cards , bling and cupcake papers!   Add the MAGNET to the back and VOILA! Stay tuned for our Giveaway and more fun too come!

Alice In Wonderland and ArtAnthology

Are you enjoying the Halloween hop so far?  There will be more spooky goodies in the second part of this post, but for now, I have another layout from the Alice altered book I've been creating in (in case you missed it, here is the COVER , and here is the first WHITE RABBIT layout ), plus a little peek at an upcoming layout. First we have Alice, printed over a print of the corresponding text from the story, the background spritzed with Dylusions Inks , and colored and haloed with PanPastels . The keys are from an Altered Pages collage sheet , of course, and they're glittered up with Wink of Stella Pens.  Still trying to capture glitter in a photograph--you can almost see the shimmer here: Here is the peek of the next layout, Alice swimming in her pool of tears--the ArtAnthology Velvet paints are sheer enough you can see the lines of the printed drawing, yet thick enough to make some nice wave texture: Of course, it would help if the photo were...

The Sea is Calling Mixed Media Artwork

Hi Everyone it's Danie back again with my second project for October using products from Art Anthology.  I was sent a beautiful bird stencil and some of their Embedibles. I initially started out creating this idea on a large canvas which I was happy with but I decided it would look better done on watercolor paper with allowance of some white space around the edges.  This is a look at the process and my trial run.  I will then be recreating it once more on my better quality watercolor paper in the hope of framing it. Here's how it came together. I started by masking off the edges of my A3 piece of Watercolor to frame my painting. I then took my pointy circles stencil from the Crafter Workshop and using gesso created some texture to the bottom of my project which would become the water/sea.  I also smeared some gesso around the top of my project just to add some interest with a plastic knife.  Some blue came off the stencil given I hadn't clean...

Feature Artist ~ Carolyn Congrove

Altered Pages is Honored to introduce you to Carolyn Congrove! After you meet Carolyn you will find the 31 Days of Halloween post below. Remember to comment on this post for a chance to win the monthly giveaway. My name is Carolyn Congrove and I’m an art junkie and jack of all art trades. I’ve always been an artist and I was an art major in college. I taught painting for 18 years before falling in love with mixed media. I saw my first issue of Somerset Studio in 2000, and by introducing me to a new take on mixed media it changed my life. (Since then several of my works have been published in Somerset Studio, Somerset Memories and the Dec./Jan. 2006 cover of Somerset Legacy.) I’ve never been able to stick to just one art medium (polymer clay, calligraphy, collage, quilting, scrapbooking, artists books, photography - I love them all) so mixed media is perfect for me. I sat myself down one day to ponder what art medium I wanted to ...

Our Design Team is participating in the hop... if you would like to hop along the blog roll is on the side bar!   I know candy corn is one of those things that you either love it or hate it....personally I love it so I thought it would be fun to make a little cone filled with tricks and treats.... I stared off by painting the mini paper mache cone with Art Anthology's Limeaid adding lots of texture as I applied the paint.    Next I painted several sizes of the Art Anthology Embedibles with Imperial (purple) Dimensional Paint and left them to dry over night.  ...
