SABOR PAPEL = Paper Flavor

As if you have not already guessed..... We are jumping up and down to let you know  that we are the designated online retail source for Sabor papers.    We now carry the FULL line of SABOR PAPEL. The Southwest has a mystique related to Cowboys and Caballeros, Cowgirls and Senoritas.    The colors are so festive and the traditions so strong.   Who could be unhappy when presented with a Pinata, that visual treat filled with dulces (sweets). We know the siesta has a practical reason in the blazing heat of late afternoon.   Lime and sour cream are staples because they calm the burn of the jalapeno.   Join us as we move into Spring with FESTIVE COLORS and happy images celebrating the heritage of the Southwest. Step out of your corner of the country and plan a Cinco de Mayo party.  We will show you some awesome party projects coming soon on the blog.                     ...

Serving up dragon, three ways

Hi everyone!  Robin here today and I've got a trio of dragon pieces to share with you.  This month Altered Pages has partnered with Faerie Song Art Stamps and the design team has been sharing some great fantasy artwork with you. I used two very fun dragon stamps from Faerie Song Art Stamps to create a clean-and-simple greeting card, a tag and an ATC.  There were supposed to be "in progress" photos to share but my computer was mimicking a hungry dragon and ate my camera's memory card!  Here are the completed pieces. I hope you like them.  There is a list of supplies at the bottom of this post. Greeting card The dragon on this card was colored with watercolor pencils and a water pen. Artist Trading Card (ATC) The map on this ATC is a scrap leftover from another project.  I find ATCs the perfect way to use up random scraps because of their small size. Altered Tag It's a shame that the scan can't show you the shine of the dragon...

Sweet Vintage Fairies ATC's

What a magical month it's been here at Altered Pages where we have been joined by Sweet Fairies all month long.  Today I wanted to share a few techniques I love using when making ATC's and use a couple more of the wonderful Fairies from the Fairy Doll Collage Sheet that I also used earlier this month. For my ATC's today I have played with a couple of different background techniques.  Firstly I started with some Vintage Text Pages torn into pieces and then stuck down on a piece of card.  I then coated this with a thin layer of Gesso , and once this was dry I sprayed with some Spray Ink . Text Pages and Gesso to start my embossed piece. Once the spray ink was dry I then took this piece and ran through my Big Shot with an embossing folder .  Taking some ink on my Ranger Blending Tool ,  I then smooched around the embossed piece with some ink to highlight the embossed design.  You will see I used torn pieces of this embossed card behind my fairie...

Pocket Fairy Tag

Hello  Everyone,  Judy Wood here today... Let's make a FAERIE tag with a pocket to hold it. Pocket tag Add spray inks to both sides of the tag (keep it simple using one or two coordinating colors, i.e. look at your color wheel).   For this,  I wore gloves as the spray inks can get messy.     Let dry (once dry, I often use a very heavy art history book to flatten my work) Tissue paper (any style will do, I like to use pre-printed tissue paper). Cut or tear to approximate size of the tag, crumble, open gently.   Hint: you can also use lace paper, rice paper, old book paper, etc.    Find what works best for you!   Matte medium is then applied to the back  of the tissue paper, then apply to tag.     Since t he tissue paper is thin, work lightly with your fingers to spread the paper out from the middle, a slight tear is okay here and there, but you don’t want the tissue paper to come off in shred...
